Wait... so that's no photoshop?

What program did you use then? Corel?
Photoshop for the base sketch and SAI for the detailing part.

Acid

I hope you are prepared to teach me how to.

Acid

And this goes here, because Koi made it.

He improved some shabby thing I made for practice, and his version looks much better:

KoiDrake

Nah, I only fixed the colors a little, I didn't changed as much as it looks like :)

Yeah, i'd like to see that too  >0<.

Now that I got these drawings out of the way I'll some time again to experiment a few stuff, so well see. I really want to try drawing with Photoshop again, been a long time since I drew something entirely with it.

And thanks! Glad to hear that from you, I really like your stuff too :3
D'aw? Really? ='D It's nice to hear someone say that when you usually dump scribbles in your art thread xD <3

Nothing makes me happier than to watch an artist find his calling and running with it. You could be a great artist but still not know what you want to be doing (Picasso went through a lot of 'period's in his life before finally setting on...well, you know) So GJ on finding that :D
Also, SAI ftw. There needs to be a club of SAI users who point and laugh at Photoshop painters going: Lololololol you paid $3000 for that and it can't even make a crisp sharp line. Actually it'd probably be just me.

Colours look good :3 If I had to guess, Koi added the purple shadowing =O I'm still looking forward to an art thread renewal, Acid >3

Don't be humble.

It's an overall improvement.

I swear to God, if SAI only had animation support... It'd easily be god tier. It's crazy how often I find myself flip flopping between PS & SAI. Corel Painter too, but that's more because I'm lazy and haven't had time to experiment and find/make the settings in SAI to get the effects of the fancier (but slow as [tornado fang]) brushes in Corel. XD

Sorry for the derail though Koi, you're doing pretty well with your new stuff, and I hope you'll still have the time to share tips with silly ol' me sometime.

KoiDrake

I don't mind the derailing at all, it's the only way to keep this thread active.

I like to juggle between both SAI and PS too, but since I use PS a lot for university stuff, I used SAI lately just to look at a different screen. Been a while since I did a full PS drawing though, and that's why I want to go back to it.

As for the tips, it would be a bad idea posting your drawings around here, I still haven't seen how you actually draw, and don't expect me to teach you anything from zero, becasue the good old internet will be a better teacher than me. I can only go as far as to answer a few question from personal experience, I'm still learning myself :P

Krystal

Nyaha, I think photoshop is best for...photo editing. I like to dis the program a lot, but it's a good program. (If expensive.) In fact, I've been drawing and CGing in it for half my life >_>a (Fully aware of the fact that Photoshop was made for manipulating photos)
But a dedicated painting program like SAI makes some things a hell of a lot easier to do xD <3

Btw Koi, since you seem pretty open to this kinda stuffs, I'd like to see your 'painting process' one day. I love watching an artists' methodological approach to what they do. It tells me a lot more about them than the finished works alone.
But you don't have to go out of your way to do it. I'm just curious~~ >3

KoiDrake

I tried to record one of the drawings I had to make, but this laptop gets slow as [tornado fang] when CamStudio is on :(. I should get more RAM for this, I'm not even sure if this laptop can handle more.

I also forget to save jpg from the process, and posting separate layers is impossible since I make everything in one layer. I'm curious too of what the hell I do while I draw, I'm sure I'll be able to see better where I'm messing up by watching myself draw.

Night

I'd love to watch you draw too! =w= ~ <3

Acid

Your Reptile is pretty awesome.

KoiDrake

Thanks :). Since I'm here I'm going to post the drawing here, although I don't really know if anyone around here likes Mortal Kombat :P

Just a quick doodle. I'll try to get something cool done this holiday. I guess I could try recording again, we' ll see...

[tornado fang]. YES.

Not only do I like Mortal Kombat, you drew one of my favs & mains! And he looks excellent!

Kung Lao is my other fav! *nudge*  8D

For me, if I work on things for more than an hour, I always get bored and send my friends WIP screenshots.

And then there is oekaki animation. (Or Open Canvas. I prefer the latter for working in.)

KoiDrake

Well, for the Oekaki's I always save the animation, the bad part is that I hate that program. Is Open Canvas the program that had the function to draw online with someone else? I'd like to try that out sometime.

borockman

That Reptile is awesome, love the mask.

Proud member of Indigo tribe!

Another tease of one of the drawings for the Vegamation book. I went with a slightly chibi-fied look on this one, but not too much.

I wanted to draw something during the holidays, but I had too much stuff to do for university and I couldn't do anything, so that will have to wait :(
