I think that requires English songs because not many people (ie. everyone minus otaku) would pay to watch something they don't understand.
English songs require English speaking composers and producers. To get English speaking composers and producers to produce with Miku requires an English Miku. To release an English Miku, they need to market her as an idol and a concept.
To do that, they're giving her a Toyota commercial, apparently.

We're on our way, slowly.

Personally I think Gorillaz concerts were more impressive.

Im certain people would pay to see Miku in japanese, mainly because anyone who WOULD go see her to begin with, already listens to her in japanese and probably doesnt care. I know I dont mind. itd be worth it alone to witness those projections first hand.

Although I get your point.

that said, my first thought when her pigtails showed up was "lol the car looks like it has pigtails"

As I said, no one except dem otaku. Because you know, it's nothing new for them to want to pay ridiculous amounts just to gawk at their favourite anime girls.
And that's exactly why they're trying to market Miku outside of the communities she's already established in.

I mean, from where you're standing (the internet), it might seem that Miku has a gigantic Western fanbase, but it's pretty damned tiny compared to what a regular popstar that holds concerts would have. Because most normal English-speaking people don't listen to Jpop. Or Jrock. Or Jwhatever Because it's J.
Would you blow a huge bunch of money setting up the technology to hold a concert somewhere where you don't have an established fanbase to attend it? I thiiiink not.

But now she looks like Holli Would from Cool World at this angle. The concert I'll bet would most likely be recorded and filmed live over at LA, as most did in the past.. although Concert Miku and past Mikus before Toyota Miku look better, but I guess it's all about perference, regardless if you are from the eastern hemisphere or the western hemisphere.

In other news, VOCALOID3 is coming out. In other other news, Kaito Append is also coming out. Also Vocalistener which is a plugin that makes your Vocaloid sing like you so anyone who can sing decently can tune a Vocaloid.
