Gamestop appears to be having an event on 8/8 that seems to be tied to a 3-pack of the Retro amiibos (ROB, Duck Hunt, G&W). First come First serve Preorders, 30 per store, no Web In-Store, just classic "$5 on the counter".

They're [tornado fang]ing it up by letting some branches open an hour early to let Power Up Pro members in to preorder.

Also, Dr. Mario and Olimar came in today. They look pretty nice.

Black Knight's helmet would be perfect for my Dark Helmet Mii Fighter.

And crap, I forgot about music remixes coming with the stages. I'd have passed on Peach's Castle otherwise, but...

YES! Finally I got the Lucina Amiibo... I was wondering when I would get it.

Though this is earlier than I suspect, but I guess they wanted to make sure I got the right item asap after I told them they sent me the wrong one.

Anyway looking forward to trying out the new update for Smash 4! I love Tournament Mode!

8/8 event for gamestop's not doing the pro power-up open early thing anymore. They'll let anybody in if they do open early.

WELP.

ROB, Duck Hunt and G&W are now exclusive to Gamestop because they're exclusive to the 3-pack.

So that means they just handed Gamestop another THREE Exclusives since the 3-pack is confirmed to be exclusive to them (And Nintendo World obviously but still). You think with how poorly Ness was handled they'd stop doing this but what the [tornado fang] do I know maybe giving exclusives to "Microsony land with special cameo by Nintendo (He's in the background, you gotta look really closely!)" is a good business plan in their eyes.

From the sound of it the Mii Fighters are going to be a 3-pack as well and in November instead.

Mewtwo's amiibo has been dated for release...

but only in Europe right now, looks like October 23rd (Aussieland gets him the following day).

So I ended up pre-ordering the 3-pack. Luckily, one of my sisters and I were near the front of the line, so she got hers, too (my other sister wasn't interested).

Think what you will of how it was handled, but having a set allotment is a lot easier on GameStops's servers than Wave 4.

It was probably the easiest for us thus far, too; minor card difficulties aside, we were in and out in five minutes.

I was in at 9AM.

I left at 9AM.

There were like... 12 people total. They had 48 pre-orders and i'm almost positive they still had some at the end of the day.

Placeholders for the main Wave 5 amiibos have sprouted up on Target.

Looks like the good Doctor is Target exclusive. So chances are he'll be like Jiggly and be incredibly easy to come by.

Bowser Jr. looks to be the other exclusive this run since apparently Target doesn't have him in their system.

Another launch day come and gone; walked away with ZSSamus and Olimar. Just like with pre-ordering the Retro 3-pack, things were very orderly (helped that there were only three other people).

Surprisingly, when I went into walmart today (To pick up a Pixel Mario, those were the rare ones this time around apparently) they had a single Ganondorf and three of ZSS and Olimar.

Grabbed the Ganondorf for a friend who's getting all the Zelda amiibos.

Target on Launch day had like 3 Dr. Marios when I popped in to see the aftermath (I didn't go in early because they only had like 3 Pixel Marios and that's the only one I needed). and Gamestop had a Splatoon 3-pack just sitting there (Its gone now though).

This is the most variety I've seen since the launch of Wave 1.

From what I can tell, Olimar is the least rare of all the Wave 5 general release.

The Retro Pack was pretty ok stocked at Gamestop (It was mostly preorders but they had like 1-2 for general sale, maybe more in back since its a tiny store), and I go into Target often on my Lunch and I see tons of Dr. Mario there making him I believe the first really common Store Exclusive.

Apparently Shulk, Lucario and Greninja are going to be breaking exclusivity soon as they've been spotted in Best Buy's system (And Shulk in TRU as well), TRU's also getting a restock of Little Mac, Fox, Villager, Captain Falcon, Wario, Lucario and Greninja so maybe the stock issues are finally settling.

Mii Fighters are all around typical MSRP on Amazon right now for the Japanese imported figures if you don't want to wait till November to get the three-pack.

Apparently an update was rolled out and we're getting a Super Mario Maker stage in both the 3DS and Wii U versions alongside that [tornado fang]ing Pirate Ship stage from Brawl on the Wii U version. Also another spattering of mii costumes (Most notably Viridi and a bunch from Monster Hunter, what, is the crossover frenzy from that spilling over their original content into other crossover games?). Apparently the 3DS version also gets the Duck Hunt stage now.

A reminder that the Smash Bros character poll ends on October 3rd. I also decided to vote for Melia from Xenoblade Chronicles as well since we could use some more Spell Caster types and Melia would be a good pick for that, plus only other spell types I could think of are from Fire Emblem and we have enough Fire Emblem characters for one game.

But seriously Tails is always going to be my number one pick because Tails could use some more meaningful appearances besides being Sonic's long suffering friend in the background.
