On their Facebook Nintendo did clarify that the poll is for 1st party characters only, sadly.

Shantae would indeed be a great character, though. Give me a few days and I can think up a movelist. I'm trying to do one for Shovel Knight atm.

Given that choice, I'd go for Mike.

There's nothing really stopping anyone from submitting whatever character they want.  Nintendo obviously INTENDS for it to be first-party, but it's all about interest in the end.  If they see a strong interest in a third party, they'll take notice.  That's how Mega Man got in in the first place.

Nintendo never charges that much for DLC.  In fact Fighting Games in general never charge that much for DLC unless it was an outight expansion.  5 bucks usually gets multiple characters or at least more pallet swaps.

Actually, it's $4, provided you're buying only a single version of Mewtwo.

$5 gets you both 3DS and WiiU Mewtwos bundled together, but I'm not sure how many people honestly have both versions of Smash and didn't bother to register them, seeings how the deadline to get him for free was only five days ago.

Apparently any character is eligible, as long as they're from a video game. obviously some are more likely than others, but they don't have to be first party.

And simultaneously, Microsoft doesn't have a problem with Banjo & Kazooie being represented in Smash.

Though the character I picked... though I'm sure not a lot of people picked him... is Sora from Kingdom Hearts 2. Would be cool to see what his playstyle in Smash would be, but I doubt I'll actually see him in it.

And Anne was one of your choices? Wait... aren't you allowed only a single vote for a character for the Ballot?

they say to vote only once but you don't have to. honestly I think it means once per character, so don't flood it by voting 500 times for the same character yourself.

as it is I'm limiting how many characters I've voted for.
