So, because I'm currently sick... again, and I won't be coming back to school too quickly after new year, I have some time.
So I decided to turn my attention to roleplay forum, and thought to myself:

-Hey, maybe I should create a roleplay here?

But then I realized... that I have absolutely no idea what types of things are need(beside some plot) for such a roleplay.
What do I need to know? What things are "right" and which are "wrong"?

TL;DR
I want to know how to make a Roleplay and how to do it right.

Well, one very important factor to is make sure that there aren't any characters that godmods everything, or acts like a Mary Sue.
A look through TV Tropes might actually help as well.

Ohkay. This one I actually know.
I'll take a look at TV Tropes, but I'm afraid I might never get out. ; >

But it's fun! :>

Oh, and heroes should learn to suffer a few defeats before finally defeating the big boss. >.>
There's nothing wrong in losing a few battles, but something is very wrong when you win all of them.

Do not allow Sarrukhs to exist in your campaign setting.

This one can be really important.

Tarrasques would be cool if they weren't completely countered by a third level spell.

yes, but it's more fun when the kids don't know what third level spell we're talking about.

[spoiler]sending it to the positive energy plain is more fun. then you can make a silly plot involving cultists trying to bring it back.[/spoiler]

If you do that all he does is pass out after a few minutes and then just lie there forever. You should send him to the astral or the plane of air or somewhere else with subjective gravity, [parasitic bomb]'d be awesome to watch. Just a tarrasque flying through the sky at like 50 km/h, probably confused as hell while he does it.

Quote
If the tarrasque fails its save against a spell or effect that would kill it instantly, the spell or effect instead deals nonlethal damage equal to the creature’s full normal hit points +10 (or 868 hp).

No explosions, just passing out.

I'm as disappointed as you are.

I'm starting to think, you guys thought I was talking about this usual kind of roleplay. As in, D&D and other kind of stuff.

Because I was talking more about those things that take place in this forum... like the "Busy World of RPM" or wutevah.

From what I see, it's almost you can do almost anything there, but I wanted to make sure if I need to know something before starting a thread(if AT ALL).

if you want to be original, cut yourself off from influential media (anime, vidyas) for a day.

or you can write generic jrpg [parasitic bomb].

Oh, well.
One more.
Please don't try to be everywhere at once, and seem to know everything even if it does not involve your character in the first place.
It's a recurring problem. >.>

I hate generic jrpg [parasitic bomb], unless it involves sex.

My RP is superior to yours because mine has lots of rules.

The best way to roleplay is to spray paint all your robot servants blue, and have yourself a 41-some.

ok serious post time

its better to do this with people you know. if you have a friend who is experienced in any sort of rping at all, play casually with them.

creating characters and settings costs a bit of effort and thought, but usually ends up worth it in the end.

if you wanna go ahead and jump into a community and learn as you go, you should start with a simple and well-known setting. (zombie apocalypse, alien invasion, etc)

ive only ever really played in small groups (a max of 5 people), but this advice might still be valid
