Well, if you want Zero-series style with better detail, that's basically what ZX is.  And that's where it should stay, IMHO.

Good Lord, no! (Reaches for the Megaman Zero Official Complete Works)

Also, sketchy style =/= lack of detail/finesse. I think that's one of the major reasons why I knock the ZX art down some notches, everything has this pristine cleanliness to it due to the tighter line work. In the Zero series, things were somewhat rougher and as a result (to me), things had added character & detail.

Flame

I want detailed, quality art, not unfinished sketches. the later Z series artwork, (Z3 and 4) were spot on. in fact, I liked Z3's art best of all of them. but I wouldnt want that kind of sketchy X series.

Plus Sketchy might be a style, but it imparts a sense of unfinishedness, and impatience.

...When Larry the reploid accountant goes maverick of his own accord, he's certainly formidable during tax season, but he isn't going to provide X the challenge needed to make him grow as a warrior and reach his potential.

Acid

I loved MMZ's sketchy style.

I also love DMC's sketchy artworks.

And I ABSOLUTELY don't agree with this.

This. Seriously, two of my favorite art designs of all time (the ones used in the Jet Set Radio Series & Mario Strikers Charged) are based on the sketchy style and to say that is just demeaning to them.

Flame

It didnt look too sketchy to me.
The thing is, In Nakayama's artwork, as nice as it is, in a game, it just looks unfinished.

I gotta back this, even if it's Flame and I who are the weirdos.  I don't have anything against sketches.  Hell, I virtually never ink/color my own crap.  There is something to be said for a drawing in its "raw" form.  But for use in a video game, it looks sloppy.

I am referring to Zero's opening, not the game opening.  Two different scenes.

Once again, the point still stands.  His legs are clearly slimmed down, in order to make running possible without phasing abilities!

QuoteJust like balancing yourself during a dash.  Nobody cares.

Oh, I don't care.  I actually love the bulky legs.  LoL, but it's still physically impossible.

I'm not complaining.  I'm stating the fact that running with those ginormous feet is physically impossible!   8)

Hypershell

Yeah, but physically impossible can be pretty damn awesome.  Like a flying time-traveling steam engine. 8)

Physically impossible has been awesome ever since Bugs Bunny didn't study law, for gravity!

Or Tom and Jerry's ability to run without moving for two seconds straight

always found that awesome. :V

I'll just go back on topic by repeating what I said earlier:

A MMX platformer with X's MMXCM armor would be cool.

As I mentioned many times before.

16-bit would be my prefered style for MMX9.

Jericho

Same here. Actually at this point, I'd love it if it could just have some wicked pixel art. (Looks dreamily at Shantae DS or that other mock up for a 16 bit Megaman X9.)
