Might be a coincidence, but M&L3 and Z3 seem to forshadow and make afew references back and forth. Hence the Omega/Zero battle and the Bowser?/Bowser battle and thier respective tunes, again, might be a coincidence due to the fact they share similar plots (Chasing Dark Elf/Dark Star, etc).

But I guess it's like that in all games.
