Beat BioShock Infinite. That ending... holy [tornado fang]. As confusing as that was, Virtue's Last Reward's take on multiple timelines/worlds is about 50x more complex than that. However, ironically, it's easier to understand in VLR, as it's a visual novel, therefore text-heavy descriptions on how the "laws" of alternate realities work.
Infinite explains it for 10 minutes (the ending) and then it's done. Granted, the Voxophone recordings do help out.
[spoiler=Huge ending spoilers]I had a nagging feeling that Comstock was future DeWitt from the beginning. And I became almost certain they were the same after Booker killed Comstock, which caused his nose to bleed; a state between life and death.
One thing I do have to say, I hated the final battle. A LOT. It was so disorganized and not very entertaining at all. Actually, the gameplay in its entirety feels a bit... off. Gunplay works like it should, but combining that with Vigors took a lot of getting used to. It just didn't flow well together with me. Hell, I think I would have enjoyed it more if there were no Vigors. I don't know if it's the dualshock layout, but it felt a bit sloppy.

Now, the real meat of this game, the ending. I predicted that either Elizabeth or Booker would die by the ending from before I even had this game. But the way it was done was masterful. Only a few games have impacted me in a way that made me feel for a character I'd never imagine to care about. Suddenly, Comstock's Voxophone recording about "perhaps the man submerged (in the holy water) is both sinner and saint" makes so much sense.
Booker is quite complex, and I'm sure his part in Wounded Knee was only a fraction of the sins he wanted to be cleaned of. They honestly don't give you much detail on this guy, yet I felt conflicted when Elizabeth drowns him. That, to me, is extraordinarily amazing to pull off. I mean, why should you care for the guy? He's just a man, a sinner, someone who just wants to protect himself. But I find myself wishing he would live, even after all the hell his birth as Comstock creates and succeeds onto Elizabeth; Anna. (Really didn't figure out that the "AD" mark on his hand stood for Anna DeWitt).
