They're throwing in a whole storyline where Rosalina is some sort of celestial goddess or something... I don't know... Still, I think it's to bring the Super Guide feature in for people having trouble, to bring back Rosalina in some capacity for the Rosalina fans, and to give added continuity to SMG1... I think. Makes sense to me.

If you ask for her assistance, you will get a Bronze Star instead of Gold Star.

I don't think we know what the Cosmics are. Cosmic Mario and Cosmic Luigi, then Cosmic Rosalina are different. They're similar, physically, but the Cosmic Mario Bros.' are competitive, possibly evil, whereas Cosmic Rosalina seems to be helpful or nurturing.

Whether Cosmic Rosalina is being controlled by the real Rosalina, we don't know. Cosmic Mario Bros.' sure weren't. The Cosmics may be a whole race of beings, with their own sets of personalities.
