Goddamn, this game is hard. I'm trying my best to deck out my character but you have to put a lot of work into it. And I'm stuck on a one star mission where you have to collect monster guts but the [tornado fang]ing Lagiacrus tries chases you around and murders you in three hits. RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGE.

Just run away from him. It's not that hard. Usually you can collect 10 guts before he pops up.

You think that's bad? The first time I got to that mission, and I'm absolutely CERTAIN at least one or a few of you guys also did this, I decided to fight it.

i've killed about 30 fish and different monsters, but not once have i gotten monster guts. this game [tornado fang]ing hates me.

You need to kill the.. uh... the ones near Lagiacrus, and check them, if I remember correctly.

You can kill any of those Loch Ness monsters for the guts.  If Lagiacrus pops up, just rush to the opposite underwater area.  He'll probably just roar and charge at you, so as long as you don't stand directly in front of his face, you should be able to slip around him.

Finally had some free time to play, and finally got past the Gobul mission.
Jesus christ, longest battle ever. Clearly I need to upgrade my armor and weapons a ton more.

Gobul is pretty easy.

Lagi is where it gets hard.

But before Lagi you will face Barroth.

I should have, but I didn't want to look for one.

Damn straight. I thought the whole underwater controls were fine and dandy, camera was OK, etc.

Until I got to the boss battles. The camera caused a few issues for me.

Oh heck no.Barroth and Lagi never cross paths. He's just the first big monster you'll face.

Isn't Barroth the monster you fight just prior to the Gobul mission?
He wasn't too tough, but it became a lot easier when I switched to SnS.

Also, man, I either have some bad luck at getting Baggi Hide's, or the drop rate is pretty low.
Need to forge my first long sword, but that will come tomorrow or later since I'm busy.

You get either a great sword, lance, sword and shield, hammer or a bowgun.

You then hunt some monsters who are total pussies, you got this Jap ship captain who talks like a [Top Spin], and the generic village people.

Then later, you hunt awesome monsters, upgrade your weapons, and armor, and go through fantastic areas with pretty great graphics.

You can also get a switch axe, which is hella tight, and even later, a long sword, which I have no idea what it's like, but I can assume it's badass as [tornado fang].

And so on and so forth, with more awesome monsters, more awesome weapons and armor, etc etc.

What's the deal? The deal is, you get all this, and more, for a price of only $60 or less! (I think.)
