You guys probably already know about this game but let me just say that if you consider yourself good at 2D platform games you should try it out. It will break your ego. And your sanity.

There's a topic for games like this you know. For the matter, this particular game was posted in it:

I Wanna Be The Guy
This not only a hard game, but also a game that rewards those who are patient(and sane enough) to play it through to the end.

Well then, merged with the main thread.

I'm watching you all. Always watching.

it's also shitty as hell, and i'm not saying that because of the forced difficulty.

No one here mentioned Abandonia yet?

Tons of free games that were once for retail.

My personal favorites there are Superhero League of Hoboken and Jazz Jackrabbit 2.

I think abandonware is classed as legally dubious, and as such not allowed on these forums...

xnamkcor

Abandonware of a classification of game that is old or not in development anymore.
Yar. Many a tale has been said about ye Abandonware. Tis be the truth though...

Piracy is illegal.

Oh god. A buddy of mine was actually playing this (most of my buddies outside from RPM are from DA, IRL (Yes, they come and hang out from time to time), etc). XD

One mention of LEGENDS and everyone goes batshit.  :\

Yep, every time when someone mentions that game people get energized for an apparent reason whatsoever. It's like this everywhere else, trust me.

It got really messy to find my sprite and comic topic, so it's in my sig.

Another Bound and Another Bound Neo by Crystal Light Stage

Freeware FPS Metroid Prime-ques doujin softs by Crystal Light Stage. Both games are nearly identical to each other, but there are a few key differences between the two.

-Differences of Another Bound/Neo-

  • The player's MC has an appear similar to Samus Aran from Metroid (although the player has a choice of being male or female) in Another Bound; in Another Bound Neo, the player's MC has been given a more "ghastly" appearance.
  • Another Bound's difficulty is somewhat on the hardcore side while Another Bound Neo's is more balanced.
  • Additional cutscenes in Another Bound Neo.
  • Minor visual refinements in Another Bound Neo and some changes in certain areas of the game.
  • Additional save points in Another Bound Neo.
  • A redesigned HUD in Another Bound Neo.

Guess what, I found another freeware doujin! :3

This is a shoot 'em that's sorta like Geometry Wars but this game gives you a HUGE amount of customization. You can literally make your own enemies and fight them. You can change all sorts of settings for the game, it has English support. Best of all -- IT"S FREE! The game however is still in its beta stages, but hopefully we'll see a final version of the game in the future.

While I'm at it, here's the first of many tutorials to get all started.

A huge amount of customization? Sounds like a great idea, especially for me.  8D

Frequency Tuner

Not really a game, but it can be amusing. Also it's useful if you have a use for it.

PS: It's only for RISC. I use the ARM/XScale version.

I found another free doujin shoot 'em up.

Reflection by Ysuer

This is basically a "beta" of Siter Skain's RefleX. Be warned though, this game truly shows its age since it was made in 1997 and its an EXTREMELY short shoot 'em up game. If you want a longer and better version of this game, then you may want to look into Siter Skain's remake of Reflection, RefleX (which is a doujin you'd have to pay for).

Here's a small & quick one with soothing music. Demolition City is what it's called, and you blow up buildings - in as efficient a way as possible. Thinking mans game.

Once again I find another freeware shoot 'em up! I bet some people might be familiar with this and I hope I'm not spamming this thread with shoot 'em ups because I don't intend to...

Cho Ren Sha 68k by Famibe no Yosshin

A frenetic space shoot 'em up with a simple yet fun gameplay. Power-ups comes in the form of rotating triangles that can either give your ship a boost in its firepower, add bombs, or give it a shield to survive one hit. Picking one power-up will abandon the others, but if you can manage to stay in the center of all three long enough, then you can reap the benefits of all three power-ups. I did run into some problems with the game not running properly, but that's probably this computer's problem or the game was not updated for Windows Vista/7. Also, if you prefer to run a game in a windowed resolution (640x480 for example), unfortunately this game forces you to play at full screen.

Including the famous Shoryuken, Hedgewars is a freeware game modeled after Worms. It contains a vararity of weapons and two martial arts skill for each skinnable hedgehog.

http://www.hedgewars.org/about.html

A game can get hellish really quick in a server game, but you can play against a com, but if you are new to the game, it's gonna be tough.
Right-Click to bring up the weapons menu, or alternatively, cycle through F1-F9 for each.

- Left and Right moves the Hedgehog in that direction.
- Spacebar to fire your current weapon.
- Backspace to do a backwards double jump.
- Enter for jumping.

Below is the game (and the trailer) in action:

Plus a certain support unit is in development, check it out!
