Well, if it is a bin file you could try mount it as a cd.
If not, then you need a extract and pack tool . Unless they have a special program for creating it.
Or you can email the creator's and tell them to have the image / sound in folders rather then  a bin.

Yeah, mounting it was my first attempt to open it. Extracting it doesn't work, it says "Invalid or unknown image file format!"

As for emailing the creators, is that actually possible? Or are you pulling my leg?

Can try, course i do not know if they speak english so your best bet is to find someone that speaks Japanese to translate a message for you.
There email might be on the site. Or in the readme included in the zip files.

There is no real contact as far as im aware, they only talk via a specific 2ch japanese bulletin board.

oh, well if it's about ripping out the graphics from the exe's or bins or whatever, i doubt they would appreciate that at all, considering in comparison how like the mm 7 NES, everything was all in folders with hundreds of PNG files for anyone to edit, this time for the mm8 ..no idea but i guess they just dont want people taking anything.

Hey, the main thing I used those for was either my hack or for my soon-to-be-former friend's crosses as a base.

I understand the hard work they put into it, but I feel that making the game customizable is part of the fun. And so far I have yet to see anyone try and actually take credit for making RM7FC. We just have fun turning it into something different.

oh yea forgot, they keep all their sprites and graphics (anything related) throughout tons of sub pages on there too.

I know where to find their page and their sprites. That's not the problem. Those of us in the game mod community are wanting to mod the game, alter game graphics to different characters, music, sound effects, etc. Just check out the Mod My Rockman thread in the Fan Creations subforum, you'll see what I mean

BIN files that acts like a CD image needs a sheet file that lists all the items inside the BIN file before it can be loaded into a ISO loader. In this case, that sheet file is called CUE. It will play files inside the BIN in a specific way depending on orders given by the CUE. Like example playing Sound Files at a specific time assigned into the AUDIO part of the CD Image.

BIN files in general tho, are just that, BIN files. They are archives with the files inside, packed differently than zip or rar archives. Those need a different program to load properly. Those programs are not easy to come by, but some of them are freeware. The BIN files are encrypted differently depending on how they were programmed, so it won't be easy to rip out the graphics or other media files you want to edit. Not only do you need a extractor to rip out the files, you need a inserter too, so that your modified edits can be put into the game again. That might be tedious and tiring, but there is ways to do it.

Another way to hack ANY file is with hex editing or tile editing tools.
Hopefully you can find sprites or tiles with those. ^^b

Anyone have a clue as to what's left for Rockman 8 FC? I have Demo 2.61 I think, which I believe is the latest one, and it has so far seemed fairly complete.

I see the bump, and then I see the previous post regarding Chainsaw Guitar... and I would recommend XPadder for this... not too hard to get the full version. I'm using it, and it's wonderful!

Usually, when I change the color of something, even if it's not in the palette, it'll normally adjusts to the closest color available.
