Funny how people seem to forget that tidbit and focus more on the camera.
From the screenshots I've seen, at least one of those announced games will be doing exactly that as well.

Like I said, I didn't expect the first batch to be anything special.  But it's a start.

Eh, the only reason why I got my DSi is because my DS Lite's screen broke and I managed to get it in to Game Stop before it completely stopped being useful.
In my case it was my original brick DS (didn't find the Lite worthwhile).  Top screen cracked majorly, greying out about half of it, no way in hell I could sneak a trade-in.

I suppose we all hoped that notions of the DSi being region-locked would be specific to downloadables.  Not the case, however, as IGN confirms:

http://ds.ign.com/articles/102/1027349p1.html

Rather hilarious is that this renders the "enhanced" cartridges as being more widely available on the previous hardware than on the current.  Way to go, Nintendo!

You know, if you don't want people to hack your console, you shouldn't be a [sonic slicer] to your rule-abiding consumers.  Their excuse is internet connections and parental controls, which is bullshit; there's no reason either one couldn't be worked around.

Didn't we know this like, when the DSi was announced or something?

My life is currently bears and Jojos and everything is great.

VixyNyan

Yea, but the difference was that downloadable software were locked to specific regions.

This time, we're talking about actual DSi cartridges. o.o;

I know, I always understood it as both cartridges and downloadable.

LoL, no offense, but people are going to hack no matter what Nintendo does, even if you and I don't agree with region lock-outs.

Hypershell

No kidding (do you think I'd give up Magic Fish Mix?).  But this only encourages them further.  I'm not saying one shouldn't hack, but Nintendo obviously hates it whether piracy is involved or not, and moves like this are counter-productive to that point.

Perhaps they think that obsessive gamers will buy a Japanese DSi as well.

VixyNyan

New DSi announced. Launching before the years end.

The only new thing right now is 4-inch screens, with a price at 18900 yen (same as the first DSi).

Maybe these screens will be either blurry or sharper, depends on what kind of screens and tweaks they use. o.o

I still remember when the Atari 2600 was big enough to fit beer in it (still is!), this will be the Atari of the handhelds if Nintendo keeps this up. Only it will hold your deck boxes instead of beer.

One mention of LEGENDS and everyone goes batshit.  :\

Yep, every time when someone mentions that game people get energized for an apparent reason whatsoever. It's like this everywhere else, trust me.

It got really messy to find my sprite and comic topic, so it's in my sig.

HyperSonicEXE

And then there's that whole "Nvidia new chip" story talking about ANOTHER DS.

Better be the DS2, because if it's another DS/Lite/i, I'm going to scream.

Black Mage J

Gah  why improve every two years when you could just completly revamp it in 4 years?

Hypershell

Well, the fact that screen size is the only difference is actually comforting.  When the speculation-happy press reports "possible new applications" for such larger screens, ie book reading and video, it makes you think they're actually upping the resolution.  Which means a functionally different model.  Which it is ENTIRELY too soon for.

But, if this is just an "old granny can see now" DSi, fine.

Sakura Leic

This is really confusing, I mean I'm going to get a DSi for christmas but I definetly don't think this new DSi is going to be out in the US by then.

Fxeni

Bigger screens with same resolution huh? Doubt it's worth it.

Jericho

So yeah, I just saw this and all I have to say is "huh?" If this has anything to do with the nVidia Tegra speculation going around a few weeks back and this becomes a stealth DS2, I wouldn't know what to say. If it's a new spec DSi, then I have to wonder why Nintendo is seemingly outing another different but not different product.

HyperSonicEXE

Eh, I don't know if the Tegra is related to this or not.

...might be, if the resolution is supposed to improve. And it'd give Nintendo a good test-run of what Nvidia does compared to ATI.

I kinda like the color as well!  XD

Also, an appropriate sound effect!   8D

It's a good thing I waited on getting a DSi. This is right up my alley.

What happens in Vegas stays on Youtube. I also stream on Twitch from time to time.

Should have saved resources for a new handheld, not a lame upgrade.

Oh wait...
