Props to who gets the song ref.

So, why do all most superheroes/ heroes wear frikkin' speedos on top of their..uniform?

Like Batman, Superman, Ironman, ROCKman etc etc Is it some kind of mutual recognition sign or something? Someone else ever asked themselves why?

Because stylish underwear looks good on top instead of under. Also, back then this sort of thing wasn't considered silly, and now it's too late to change some characters uniforms because they're too iconic.

Personally, I don't think men and women, whether superheroes or not, should wear underwear at all.

Take into account that Wonder Woman's uniform is essentially a bikini.

Well its interesting to see that Superman eventually ditches the "funny pajamas" and speedos for a more emo suit, in both the alternate future where he teams up with Luthor after Lois' death, and in the Batman Beyond future. Although the BB version has silver trim, and can apparently form spikes out itself.
