I actually miss riding on those.

And with ghost houses. last one I saw was in Super Mario 64. ACTUAL Ghost Houses. Not substitute ghost themed worlds.

The Grasslands theme is catchy as hell. I also love how ominous The Underworld's music was.

Meh. Wario's had plenty of games.

If any one deserves a game, it's Bowser. He's the only one who hasn't truly had his own title yet.

Even Toad, practically speaking, had his own title (through Wario's Woods).

Bowser? RTS. An RTS that only has to merely discuss Bowser's motives, mainly power. Power from stealing Peach's rule over the Mushroom Kingdom, power from destroying Mario, power always referring to the expansion of his own kingdom.

Above all else, Bowser's a leader. Misguided? Yes. Theatric? Yes. Softy on the inside? We saw his OOC quips in SMRPG, he's never done permanent damage to Peach, and he's got a kid and nephews that hang around his grouchy butt. It's not irrational; he'd be dead by now, especially after SMG. It's not revenge for some past wrong done to him by the Toads; he's been 'good' too many times before. Stopping Bowser means satiating his ambition.

Which seems pretty well impossible. An RTS will let you command his troops, seat you at his throne, and for those who don't already know, answer why he relentlessly, even with futility, attempts to take power and yet his troops are still loyal;

He does it for the ones he loves. Making the Mario story an ironic, neverending, and maybe a little tragic clash; his ambition to create a kingdom for them all without caving in to peaceful coexistence with Peach and the Toads for fear of seeming 'soft' will be the very thing that ensures not one day's peace for them all.

On the other hand, while a RTS would be nice, I dunno...one of the arguably the most complex genres in gaming seems to be something that I don't think could be adapted for the sake of the kid-friendly "Mario-verse", but so easily. It would probably have to be simplified to something more akin to Sangoku Musou/Dynasty Warriors, and even that might be pushing it. Though it's certainly something I could see Nintendo making so if they and Koei ever got together...

Any way, I have two ideas that could possible work, at least just for the sake of Bowser .

1) M&L3 showcased that Bowser can (mostly) carry himself just fine. I could certainly stand to see that elaborated on, such that he would have to be willing to fight tooth and nail, by his lonesome, for a spell. In the old-school days, Bowser was supposed to be as capable in the way of magic, just as much as he was willing to throw his weight around. An action-platformer-brawler, that played to Bowser's various strengths, would be something I could definitely see Bowser doing well with.

2) The other idea may not revolve around Bowser himself, but perhaps his son.

I dunno, maybe it's me. But I've actually gotten to like the lil bastard over time, ALMOST as much as I like Roy and the original "Magnificent 7". And I think that, like Yoshi in the 90s, it may be only a matter of actually giving the bambino his own title (which is actually GOOD, a la Yoshi's Island) before he really will be able to truly make a name for himself.

Maybe they could do something with him and that Paintbrush again (if he were to ever get it back or make another one). Or he could get something else. I dunno. But I do think that Jr has some potential in him to carry a Mario-style platformer in his own right. Plus, there's always the thing that he's possibly even more of a softy than his old man. If Wario could be made into an (anti-)hero, surely there could be room for Jr to be likewise...

I've not much of a problem with Bowser Jr. as he is. I just think it was really lazy of Nintendo to recycle him so many times in NSMB when they could have clearly slapped his siblings into the first seven worlds and then had Bowser Jr. in the 8th before his father.

If Pikmin can do alright, a really simple RTS of Bowser can do fine.

And you're right, I do recall Super Koopa Kingdom, but since my old hard drive crashed, darned if I could ever find that again.

I do recall a Bowser Vs. Tatanga battle, and given Super Mario Galaxy, that just sounds [tornado fang]ing epic.

EDIT: Whaddya mean "Nintendo's conference is on Tuesday"?! FFFFFFFFFFFFF I thought it was tomorrow!

Microsoft kicks things off as always. They like to be first out the gate with everything, regardless of consequences... see Xbox 360's rampant failures.

Nintendo will be Tuesday as 12pm EDT and Sony's will follow about an hour or two later.
