Also, because it is designed to appeal to a general audience and Americans like the Disney aspect of KH than the Final Fantasy one. Besides most kids nowadays only play final fantasy through either GBA or DS but if I ask them what game cloud is from, "Isn't like from Kingdom hearts 1 or something?"
