I can't answer that.  All I know is that the Remix of her song sounds absolutely awesome.  The soundtrack to this game is a must.

And, what can I say? Well, honestly? It's not that good....

Combos come easy and plentiful in this game. And it gives you a surprising amount of options and mechanics to work with, no less! By the end of my first day, I unlocked all of the Wii exclusives except Ippatsuman, and saw a number of endings, too.

I'll be ready and willing to give a more in-depth "review/opinionated statement" about the various characters I played with, later this evening.  8)

'Course, the funny thing about this game is that while these combos are very nice looking, their actual utility in a real match is dubious until further testing is applied. And then there's that nifty "Mega Crush" that an opposing player can bust out as soon as they have 2 levels of meter to give up...  ;)

Any way, I promised a little bit of a "character overview" tonight, and I shall deliver.

Tonight, we shall do "Ladies first".


Jun the Swan (or "Princess" or "Agatha June", depending on which show you watched)


This lady's got plenty of nice tricks involving her yoyos. "Bind Bomb" not only does damage, but also attaches a yoyo bomb on the opposing character. She can do this up to two times. Then a quick roll of the thumbs backward for the followup, will make it so that those bombs will go "BOOM!".

As long as you don't allow Jun to get hit (blocking's fine), those bombs will stay where they are, even if the opposition tags that character out! For the most part, these bombs are great for the end of a combo, or just for the sake of a good "GOTCHA [sonic slicer]!" moment when the opponent is open.

Her Level 3 (which also summons the God Phoenix) is even different from Ken's, and is fundamentally much more sound than his, too. For her, the execution of the move starts off with a flip kick, which can even be done in the middle of an air combo, and does great damage (provided you don't scale down too much).

Overall, Jun's got a lot of nice things that serve to make her a tricky character. Between her yoyos and her nice kicks, she lends herself well to any team, and her learning curve is not that steep either.


Next up, we have Roll.

Gone is the MvC Roll that idolized her blue buddy, Rockman, and in is one bad-ass lil chickadee with her broom of doom!

The broom is able to give Roll a surprising amount of range for some one of her small stature. And for some reason, I have reason to believe that this mechanical broom has a lot of power behind it, because with it, she does a good deal of damage, and is able to send people flying with her "Roll Home Run" (especially if you charge it up!).

And it's not just about the broom, either, as the bucket also has plenty of use. At close range, it's a nice quasi-projectile that could also serve as anti-air (depending on which button you press). At far range, the water from the bucket will land on the arena floor. An unwary opponent who just tries to walk across will get tripped up AND dealt damage! And the best thing is, she can set multiple "puddles" at once (though they'll eventually go away). Also, if you do the "Roll Charge" and then the bucket, it will send out a multi-hit blast of water, which is probably the closest thing that Roll has to a true projectile. It's still decent though, even if you do have to "set it up" first.

Her "sweeping" special is nice in some ground combos, but KEEP it that way. Once she starts going to work, she won't let up until she's done, and that leaves her very vulnerable.

Super-wise, Roll is a mixed bag. Her Sweeping Super, like her regular sweeping special, is such that once she starts, she will NOT stop. Keep it in the context of a combo, and you'll be fine.

Her "Wish for Healing" Super gives a good deal of life back, for being a level one super. It even goes beyond "red life", and can fill her bar back up to full, if allowed. The only thing? Not only is she vulnerable while doing this, if the opposition jumps in the way of the "drop", THEY'LL get the health benefit instead of you! Don't let that happen. A good way to avoid this would be to do a nice combo that ends with a charged "Roll HomeRun" (sending them flying to the other side of the screen), or doing it as one of your enemy's character's dies (if you're fast enough). Cool thing? If Roll's successful, you'll see an 8-bit life bar flash up on the screen, and the accompanying 8-bit "regain health" sounds.  0v0

Her Level 3 Super is easily her Best Super. You can combo into it relatively easily, and it deals out a lot of damage too. Plus, it's just too damn funny to see Roll, quite literally, light some one's ass on fire, and remedy the problem with a BIG BUCKET OF WATER!!!

If there's anything that's really wrong about Roll, is that for one, well, she can't take the hits. Obviously, a future chart will probably tell the full truth, but I have reason to believe that Roll is probably has one of the worse defense rankings in the game. Her Healing Super can surely can up make up for that, but, again, only if you allow the right set-ups. Then there's the thing that her Supers are definitely more a situational type of thing. Her Best needs Level 3 Super, and the others can have limited usage, depending on the player. Finally, she may have a bit more of a learning curve for the first time player, due to how her gameplay mechanics work.

In any case, she's STILL loads better than her MvC incarnation ever was, even though she doesn't transform into a sort of Aphrodite A composite any more. 8D I'd recommend her, once you got a lil bit more experienced, and are willing to work with her.
