2 songs in Contra Rebirth are from Contra Hard Corps (Mega Drive):

Stage 3 Boss music: "GTR Attack!"
Stage 4 music: "The Foggy Cave in the Darkness"

I already mentioned Operation C music a page ago. ^^;

wow. Easy mode is really easy. even Normal ain't too bad. some of the bosses go down really fast too. definitely not the final boss, though. that took me a couple continues to beat. haven't tried Hard yet.

what i'm most surprised about is how short the game is. i think it might be shorter than Contra 1.

The music sounds like it was played on the Yamaha YM2612 sound chip for the Mega Drive, but with extra improvements thanks to being programmed for Wii Ware.

Plus that most of the music tracks are borrowed from Hard Corps, and also the Jungle + Alien Base themes from the first Contra (NES/Arcade/etc). Stage 2 is from Contra III: The Alien Wars, easy to figure out. Stage 3 (my favorite) is from Operation C (Game Boy). The Last Boss theme is a remixed song from Hard Corps too.

I think the game is still called "Contra" Rebirth in Europe. I don't have a PAL Wii so I'm not really sure. ^^

come on Vixy. you really don't think i know who Browny is? i might not've played Hard Corps as much as others have, but i know plenty about it.

which is why i'm shocked and appalled by the name change. Browny and Tsugu-min might both be robots, but they're not the same robot. Tsugu-min has more appendages, can't double jump, and talks (writes?) like a kindergartener in Japanese. i also don't see her ever using The Yoyo of Death.

given, the spelling is different. but it ain't right for Konami to create a link that shouldn't exist.

yes, i care too much. but in the end, i pirated the Japanese version, so this doesn't affect me too much.

and Probotector was quite awesome in Contra 4. if Sheena and Lucia weren't in it, i'd play as him all the time.

2,000 Wii Points purchased, just waiting for Contra Rebirth to appear online. I have the whole afternoon to play this, can't wait!

I'm gonna have 1,700 WP after getting this game, so I might buy something else. Kinda tired of waiting for Mega Man 4...

to be honest, i think 1000 points is too expensive for this game. sure its a new game, and the replayability is through the roof, but the game just doesn't offer as much as other Wiiware games at that price point. it's a very small game, too, what with only 5 levels and three special weapons.

again, this doesn't concern me, cause i found me the Japanese wad. but i just think Konami could've gotten away with selling the game for a couple bucks less.

in before "Back in my day, this game would've cost $50 and we payed it happily!" i know, Grandpa, i know.

I finished the game. Definitely too expensive for only 5 stages, but if you're a Contra freak like me, then it's a great tribute to the series. Insane action with plenty fast-paced sequences.

Normal is quite the smooth ride, but starting with Hard bosses already get new attacks and [naturally] there are more enemies to kill.

Love the pre-game options too. You can set any function to any button and the game supports three controllers (Wiimote, Classic - my option - and GC). And thankfully, you may set your number of lives to a max of 7 (with unlimited Continues as far as I can tell).

They used a remix of the Hard Corps final boss theme for the final boss. I loved that. The music overall is actually very reminiscent of the Genesis days, squeaky as ever, which is kinda weird since the SNES sound system made Contra tunes that much more powerful. The graphics could have been more inspired, but the main character animations at least are very smooth.

And YAY, the phrase Let's Attack Aggressively is there!

there's a lot of Hard Corps tracks in the game. actually, i'm led to believe every song in the game is a remix of a song from a past Contra.

the only songs i don't know the origin of are the first boss theme and the ending.

and Plissken also says "It's time for revenge!"
