So its just Red's Pikachu.
Yeah you have to differenciate from the 2 of them.  Red has pokemon that, while not the best, still kick a lot of ass while Ash has a lot more pokemon he actually used but most of them suck since he doesn't evolve them and doesn't know how to raise them.  Ash may have some better ones now but that's only because he evolved them and are inheriently better for the most part, in my opinion any way.

Two things to bear in mind about the anime:

1. Pokemon do not suffer the "4 attack" limit.
2. Ash insists on giving all his powerful 'mans away.

"We'll be back as soon as we get Professor Oak's Pokeball!"

Pidgeot is still waiting, you jerk.

That too, though other than that Dragonite what other pokemon don't have that 4 attack limit?

Also Pigeot is hard to count on, I mean who knows if it's even still in Kanto in the first place.  Plus it still has a duty for those Piggy, Pigeotto, and their offspring to defend them from Spearows and Fearows.  Same thing with Lapras while a pretty good pokemon it's leading the other Lapras' now so he can't exactly call on them.

The only pokemon he can actually call outside of Professor Oak is Charizard and Squirtle but honestly I would choose Totodile over Squritle if he ever evolves them, for reasons you already know, which he probably won't because he's so stubborn.

Actually...
The anime is trying to restrict the Pokemon to 4 moves now.

As for Pidgeot, yeah, duty.
But Lapras is more it's back to it's herd.

Oh so the older generation really didn't have that 4 move limit?

Still Lapras is with her family now so yeah, I don't think she's coming back.

Yep, there were instances in the Kanto, Orange Islands and Johto arcs that showed Pokemon to have more than 4 moves.
Not so much in the Hoenn and Sinnoh arcs.

I see, it's been so long since I've seen those arcs that I didn't remember.  That and I probably wasn't paying much attenion. -u-'

Well, I've seen very little of Hoenn and pretty much none of Sinnoh.

What can I say, sooner or later you get tired of the Team Rocket motto.

They changed it for Hoenn too or at least the Battle Frontier.

Also can someone explain to me why Ice Punch costs way more BP than Outrage?

Ash's can never live up to Red's (despite the same/similar moveset).
Because it's Red's.

Even though Ash aka Satoshi is a fake and mostly a miserable version of Red, their Pikachus are in in terms of power pretty much equals.
If Satoshi is going to battle his Pokemon Special version, I would place my money on Red, because he has more talent for battle shown as he defeated Giovanni the Ground Type Specialist with his last Pokemon at hand, Pika.

Red started out as a arrogant Idiot Hero, but he has grown out of it. Satoshi in the other hand wasn't allowed to receive Character Development. Even when he got one, he later received later the Character Derailment.
Now how can Satoshi for real forget, that Normal Type Attacks won't work on Ghost Tpe Pokemon? Epic fail combined with the fact that he uses his Pokedex, before he attacks Gengar.

If you ask me, Satoshi suffers from Aesop Amnesia. For a child he really has a bad memory.

This is so true.  Ash COULD grow to the awesomeness of any trainer, but he always reverts back by the next episode.

And hell, it's not even just Ash.  One of my biggest continuity gripes with the Johto arc was the excuse they found to axe Charizard...because he's weak by "Charizard" standards (despite holding his own against F*@#ING MOLTRES), and cannot carry people on his back (even though he was already shown to do so in more than one previous episode).

"Character growth" is not in the vocabulary of the anime writers, I'd say.

The only thing I can say to this is what else do you expect from a character that stays 10 forever?  At least Red turned 16 by the Emerald saga.  It's like how Brock still hits on every single non prepubesant female even after he was dumped by Professor Ivy or how the Nurse Joy in Viridian somehow fixed Misty's bike eventhough it was burnt to a crisp, nothing in that anime makes sense.

Touche.

It's interesting how that flies in the face of various points of the Indigo and even Johto arcs, even though in terms of character-depiction, yes that is obviously what they're going for (sure, we take it in The Simpsons, but that show isn't meant to make sense).  At least two years should have passed by Spell Of The Unown (1 year between Viridian City Visits, and the Pikachu short being Ash celebrating the anniversary of their meeting), and if you take Gary's mention of Pokemon Leagues meeting once per year into consideration, Ash ought to be very nearly old enough to drive by now.

The fact that they're so stubbornly against the concept of passage of time simply means that Ash is fairly compared to Red's early days.  Ash is no worse a character than Red, he's simply denied Red's growth on the grounds of status quo.

Exactly I don't understand why they made it so he never grew, there's no physical change in him other than the darker tan he got near the end of Johto if I remember correctly.  Same thing with Brock you'd think he'd be in college if they even cared about school in the first place, heck he should be the one driving a freaking RV all over the place so that way they don't have to camp out or worse stay in castles/mansions haunted by lonely ghost pokemon.

Oy ve, non aging characters may work for american cartoons like the Simpsons and Family Guy but not for an anime as long as pokemon.

If we're taking a detour from the topic to complain about the anime, here's something that I think has been mentioned before. Ash has, from the start of the series, gone from occasionally ogling girls to not having a [tornado fang]ing clue as to what they are beyond they have bumps on their chests and a different bathroom.

... You do know you still proved my point right?

And remember, the anime series is just Ash in a coma dreaming up all that.
He's been in that coma ever since Pikachu first shocked him in ep1.

If Satoshi is inferiour to Red, then I proved your point, but we were talking about Satoshi's Pikachu and Red's Pika. Would they fight without their respective trainers, their battle would end up in a close draw. When the trainer is retarded and the pokemon to loyal, you know that the pokemon would follow the order, even if it knows that it would lead to nothing.

And remember, the anime series is just Ash in a coma dreaming up all that.

Just open the closed topic so we can talk about it once more. (It was even closed before the 30 day limit was passed. WTF? Spy Child what is your problem?)
It is indeed an astonishing theory.
