One day the internet cops are gonna come to my door and wag their fingers at me, and give me a stern talking to about "hotlinking" and I'll be like "Okay, I'll never do it again, officer!"

And they'll leave, and the first thing I'll do is image dump.

you link directly from the source material. for ex. you see a picture on a site, and you just copy its url address and put it in image tags.

As of today, the FORUM RULES officially hereby REQUIRE you that if you are going to post any images, you upload them ELSEWHERE and don't use the original link. Failure to do this several times in a row nets you a nice 3-day pass to Bansville.

what about places like Deviantart, which allow it? I mean, they even give you the embed code.

just asking. Deviant art is for people to upload their art and then show it off... if they give you the embed code, then its not a stretch that they allow hotlinking. (unless the artist makes it otherwise, which ive seen) I mean, ive never had a problem with inking to deviantart.

Not really, it was a good question, although re-uploading imo would be better for everyone's sakes, I don't think a DA link would be so bad, especially if they provide the direct link and don't feel any ill towards hotlinking.

Still though guys, rule is in play, so just keep that in the back of your head while posting, as... "Extra incentive" and I'm sure you'll find a decent solution.
