Scan of the fifth Retro Gamer Collection (Photobucket squashed it down, sorry). There's a couple of Megaman sprites at the top and bottom--plus one oddity underneath the cyclopean ogre-bot and next to Zool.

It's blatantly an edited X sprite. I have no idea where it (or that one Link sprite not too far away) came from, and didn't see anything in the magazine itself about it.

The one green Link next to Goro looks like fan work, and the blue Link under Max looks similar to the sprite from BS Zelda series (for the Super Famicom's ST-GIGA Satellaview service). ^^;
