Subject says all, really. Is there a Megaman expy that came before him (more fairly, does Megaman look like someone/thing that showed up before 1987)? Post 'em here.

I'd like to start with Krys. (He's riding the rocket horse.) Not only does he look like Megaman (well, Megaman looks like him, but Megs is better known), he looks like Megaman's original name (Rainbow Kid).

And before anyone asks, I discovered this at Bad Movies. I didn't actually watch that movie' I'd probably be insane if I did.

Please, no Astro Boy comparisons; they've been done to death.

Casshern and X. There is even official artwork of X drawn very much like Casshern.

Also Ralph Macchio looks like this guy:

The Stormtroopers, look past thier helmet and boots and you get a Ruby Spears-ish Megaman suit, I have noticed thier chest armor's similarities for quite some time, this probably pre-dates Megaman though.

Yep, every time when someone mentions that game people get energized for an apparent reason whatsoever. It's like this everywhere else, trust me.

It got really messy to find my sprite and comic topic, so it's in my sig.

Can I do more Kikaider comparisons?  Like, I thought cartoon Masaru looked a little like Rock.

Seiya wants to show you all his Mega Man headgear.

Guys, please let me know when did Gwen Stacy getting retroactively impregnated with Goblin Twins solve any contradiction whatsoever and didn't create a whole set of new ones. TTFN

I'm pretty sure that Inafune based Megaman's design on Astro Boy.  In fact he's at least once said  "I based the designs on cartoons from my childhood." Or something to that effect in an interview (The one on the Anniversary Collection for Gamecube.)  Paint Astro blue and slap a helmet on him and you've pretty well got Mega right there.

Huh. I never noticed that before. :/

Beyond the moon boots and body structure, I didn't think Mega and Astro looked that much alike (especially if this is MM1-MM2 Mega we're talking about here). Shigeto Ikehara's early mangas, on the other hand...

I've seen Wikipedia compare Megaman to Pinocchio, though (the Disney one?). Whacked.

Well, for one I didn't know you kept up with Saint Seiya if that's the case. But either way this is a manga only Cloth that lasts for... 2 chapters before that helmet is almost retconned.

I don't keep up with Saint Seiya, but I've seen the armours Cloths before. The retcon might explain it, though.

I do remember Knights of the Zodiac/Saint Seiya, I honestly never thought of that when the dubs were airing on good 'ol toonami.

You wouldn't, since it's not used in the anime at all. And in the manga it just lasted two chapters until Seiya lost his Cloth but they could recover everything but the helmet.

Gee, wonder why!

because Wily himself was based off of Einstein?

Friender

Not really a looalike per-say, but he can turn into a jet and a submarine and a tank and a morotcycle.

He does count, he almost resembles Sigma's pet nearly by the legs and head. Probably one of Inufaune's childhood heroes was Casshern.

I've heard from more than one source that the big blue dogs in Wood Man's stage are even CALLED Friender. Since I don't have these oh-so-nice japanese databooks and none of these sources supplied an undisputable source of this information although one of these is a guy who most of the times has his stuff set straight from these extra-gaming sources, but if that much proves true, I think that's nigh undisputable.

Yeah, I heard the Hot Dogs from MM2 were called Friender in Japan as well.  And they breath fire, like Friender.

I guess the basic leg structure is also like Friender.

Cyborg 009 Joe looks like Protoman.
but that was already confirmed that Proto's inspiration were racer X and 009.

well, Hakaider DOES look alot like Darkman... which I would assume to be an inside joke on Capcom's part.

I think I might have seen that in theaters... crazy. That's a new look-alike on me. Coincidence I'm sure, but awesome find.

Nice find on Rainbow Brite!

Consider Racer X!  Even his full costume looks like Protoman's.
