I cant wait for episode 2 of Brotherhood.
as well as the next chapter. Roy vs Envy is going to be kickass.

...When Larry the reploid accountant goes maverick of his own accord, he's certainly formidable during tax season, but he isn't going to provide X the challenge needed to make him grow as a warrior and reach his potential.

Episode 2 is all about Al and Ed's past in human alchemy. One could say a recap of their lives.

When was the last time I poked you guys...

Simple, Erevens don't like black folks.

But real answer, she, and the rest of those people were always light skinned.

It's just that during the original production, they never actually had an official color pallete for anything, so since they were presumsed to be in a desert town, the animators just gave them dark skin since they all live in the desert.

But by the time the mangaka told them they [tornado fang]'d up, it was already too late. Being the 1st episode and all.

Am I the only one who thinks that the explaination of the backstory is done a little too fast? Didn't they push the contents of like 3-4 episodes into this episode 2?

It wasn't my imagination then.

Yeah, but it was for the best IMO.

This version is going to be an adaptation of the Manga, and also somthing that's being done in  a way mainly for the people who have already read it and watched the original.

Of course they always were, there's absolutely no tone difference between Rose and Ed in the manga. Whereas Scar was always noticeably darker.

Not so much a presumption as a deliberate deviation. During the course of the first anime they've literally turned the place into a second Ishbal.

The content itself comes from many episodes, but there's still plenty of information not covered. What they mostly wanted to do is show the event in chronological order and depict the changes to the Gate of Alchemy and introduce Truth.

Complete with references to "all is one, one is all" and Gluttony that new viewers wouldn't get because the event is shown too early.

Heck, this early on they're already throwing phrases like "Xerxes", "Philosopher of the East" and "Rentanjutsu" at us. In some ways it's a really nice way to unify the start of the series with the elements introduced later, in other ways it's just spoiling too much.

is it anything new to cram things into an episode? Casshern sins crammed a shitload of backstory into the lastf few episodes instead of spreading it out. the others were all about Casshern stabbing Luna and growling.

I agree with Zans last point though.

also, everyone was a shade of white or grey actually,  since the Full Metal Alchemist manga is black and whitle/greyscale.

huh. ep 3 out. they didnt include the parrot that rose was made to believe was her lover "recovering" and they didnt include the giant Leto statue that Ed animates. the fact they didnt include the giant leto statue saddened me. ;_;

Why must we choose between giant statue and giant Cornello?

Both bird and statue were filler.

you think so?

...When Larry the reploid accountant goes maverick of his own accord, he's certainly formidable during tax season, but he isn't going to provide X the challenge needed to make him grow as a warrior and reach his potential.

The statue wasn't filler. It was properly there in Ch2. Ed uses it to almost kill Cornello.

Still, the majority of the episode was pretty faithful. I'm still a little disappointed that it wasn't "panel to panel" faithful though.

Besides, I see no problem with introducing some backstory a little quick.

In fact, they're actually doing a good job out of it, IMO.

Revolutionary

I haven't seen the episode yet, but I do have enough to ask about it already. Please tell me that the Ed's "reveal scene" was just as perfect here as it was in the first series.

When he reveals to Cornello that he's the Fullmetal Alchemist. I thought that was one of the most brilliantly executed scenes in the first run and I'm hoping the scene will make me pause and go "Kick. Ass." again in this run. XD

Oh, I guess so.  The only problem is they already did some of that revealing in the McDougal episode.

Yea, I know. Honestly, it was pretty well handled there as well.
