It's a wig. To get the hair to do that, wire was prolly inserted to support the spikes and then was sprayed with glue. The yellow looks like foam or fabric.

As accurate as it is, I don't understand why people would go to that much trouble. It looks silly. You can always alter a character's hairstyle, after all.

Then again, that's just me.

when I dressed up as ZXA Vent, I just left my hair as was, since it was already long and brown.

and when I did Anime tenchou, I just bought a spiky wig and used the visor as a sort of "frame" for the hair to stick out top from. Ive never gone to extremes with it, though I probably would.

i should buy a wig for my Agito getup. i'm going to get tired of spraypainting my hair blue all the time.

I bought a wig for a Zero costume I was working on. Mainly 'cause my hair is short and black. Though, if I wanted to, I can pull off a damn decent Harry Potter without trying!

Which makes it funnier that you can buy colored duct tape nowadays..

I think I used about two rolls of red tape, half a roll of white, and a quarter of a small roll of classic silver. The helmet was made using a knit hat and posterboard. The gauntlets were made with posterboard.
