Apparently a side story to the Prime Universe as told from the Space Pirates POV.

Translation: "Follow Metroid Prime's history from the perspective of the Space Pirates."

Honestly, you should take this one with a grain of salt as it could mean anything from a full fledged Hunters-esque game (which could allegedly star Sylux in the main role), or just an update on the main JP Metroid site or the ongoing Metroid e-manga. Whatever it is though, consider me highly intrigued.

I'd just like to mention the work and detail Retro Studios gave the Space Pirates. They came off mostly as very scientific and ruthless, but some of those scan logs were hilarious, like keeping Metroids as pets or, in Prime 2, the apparent hatred between Command Unit and Science Unit.

Four test subjects were horribly broken and twisted when they engaged our morph ball prototypes.

I especially loved it in Prime 3's logbook buildup where all of them were telling the story of how they shat bricks because Dark Samus was on one of their transports and as they are saying all is lost, it's like they had an "ALL GLORY TO HYPNOTOAD" moment and started revering Dark Samus as a goddess. XD

Seriously, I'd love to see this. XD

Sounds more like an online story than a game, but I'm interested.

If someone interrested, the Metroid Manga fully translated for some months ago, just watch there:

Cool, but what happened to the older one? I remember it was more naturally translated than literally. "Grandpa bird" worked much better than "TOJI ONI CHAN".

All I know is that being a Space Pirate and running into a fully equipped Samus would be the scariest and most tense moment in any video game. XD

yet you don't see any Space Pirates shittin bricks at the sight of Samus, do ya? they're either really brave or really stupid.

it could be worse. Metroids die when they touch open doors.

Pretty sure there would be a more immediate conflict among the 3, giving you some possible favorable time.

Let me see here, they are releasing Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2: Dark Echoes as part of the "Let's Play On Wii" library, and mentioning that you can buy Metroid Prime 3: Corruption too. >v<

But Another Side Story is gonna mention the Metroid Prime History in the Space Pirates point of view.
If it's a video game, an animated movie or a website feature, we'll just have to wait and see. =w=

But in the meantime:

I agree with this statement, however I could stand for another FPS game....

Besides, I have all 4 2D Metroids to keep me happy.

If a Space Pirate game was something that could be told in 2D, I wouldn't have any problem with that.

Being a Pirate unit of some sort, that starts out as a grunt, and then is continually "mutated" into a bad-ass that could possibly rival Samus (but never fights her in-game)? That would be an interesting plot arc. And if nothing else, they can still utilize Metroid-style mechanics, just in a different context.

...Just....give me a break from the Prime-style games. At least Zelda has been giving me "classic style" games on the GBA and DS, all while Link continues his thing in 3D on the GC and Wii. I need something similar from Metroid on the DS, as well!

Well, yes and no.

Yes, in the fact that Orn itself is some what along the lines I'm talking about, but no in the fact that it would have to be a bit "more" than that.

Or hey? If this game is coming from the Pirates' perspective, how about telling something from the POVs of Ridley and/or Kraid? Surely, they had other things to do besides waiting around for Samus to come around fight them in various games.  8D

If that is the case, it would be from Ridley's perspective. But, if it is a 1st person, I'd like to see some of them 'failed technology experiments' from them attempting to recreate Samus' technology at hand.
