I don't think it's the actor, as it's so much the lazy way of writing the use of War Machine into the plot. He wasn't needed, and the "high-five" explosion at the ending was [tornado fang]ing stupid.

It's just a bro thing. And I honestly thought they got through the drunken personality of Tony really well with that house brawl. They needed to get the alcohol problems out of the way without them becoming the movie, and they did it in a clever way.

And because of that, Whiplash almost felt like a second thought. Most of the screen time he got was him working on those robots for Stark's rival.

Me too, and I didn't really see what was wrong with it, besides the fact that it lost all of the novelty factor and kinda limped at times.
