But no Demon's Crest / Gargoyle's Quest makes me :(
Pretty much.

But for the rest,

Well, I thought that was a given as it is now. For all I remember for newshounding back in the day MMX wasn't very hot there around CM/X8's time already.

Then again, I'd trade any X9 or whatever for a new Gargoyle's Quest. Or Strider.

Guys, please let me know when did Gwen Stacy getting retroactively impregnated with Goblin Twins solve any contradiction whatsoever and didn't create a whole set of new ones. TTFN

Hmm, not a bad list. As for the lack of Metroid, I saw that coming, considering Metroid was always more popular elsewhere. Same goes for Starfox. Can't really blame them for Starfox though, considering the last good one was SF64.

I'm sorry, but MMX also needs to ditch the mandatory Ride Chaser levels, and bring back the optional awesomeness like in X2. Because autoscrolling vehicle stages suck.

i don't see anything wrong with Jet Stingray and Volt Kraken, but i understand what you mean. MMX would really benefit from more stages like Overdrive Ostrich.

Well, Volt Kraken wasn't all that bad because there was actually a stage after that section. Otherwise, it's overdone, X8 being the perfect example.

3. Okami
6. Breath of Fire
7. Rockman DASH (aka Mega Man Legends)
8. Ogre Battle
13. Rockman X (aka Mega Man X)
16. Mother
17. Romancing Saga
30. Jet Set Radio

I'm glad some people in Japan have the same taste in vidja gaims (yes I'm misspelling...ftw) as I do. I'm sad that nobody mentioned Mischief Makers, Metroid(2d), or any other good game I may have forgoten. :(

Honestly, though, you can stick a fork in the story because it's more or less done (even though there are still options; we've discussed them on this board at length), the Primes were generally good but nothing outstanding, and people are seeing the 2D games for the backtracking, Power-Bombing, snorefests that they were.

It's why MMX didn't get more votes; another Metroid game would probably be as 'meh' as every other recent game just like X9 might be 'meh' to terrible. Metroid needs a gameplay revamp, and MMX needs to ditch Ride Chasers and Rankings.

Atomic rage. Metroid is no where near dead from either a gameplay or story perspective, not with the amount of continuity that needs to be properly handled in between 1 & 2 with the Prime series. Then there's Fusion's ending which suggests that the organized universe itself could pose to be Samus' biggest enemy, more so than the Pirates.

And hell, since most people probably won't play for story purposes, if we had to create Metroid at the basest level for a new game, all that needs to happen is Samus gets on a planet, someone tells her blow [parasitic bomb] up and from there it's mockball time. XD

Secondly the most recent games in the series were Prime 1 - 3 which were amazing, beyond amazing, and not quite as amazing, but great respectively.

I really have to wonder why someone would consider Metroid boring though, there's just too much put into each game from all angles (design, art, music, gameplay) for me to comprehend it. Then again, this is all just the thoughts of a fan so disregard if necessary. XD

Indeed, that's all a good Metroid needs =)

From the comment, I think he's not much of a fan of backtracking, but then why only call the 2D Metroids a snorefest when there's plenty of backtracking and stuff they had in the Prime series except Hunters?

My life is currently bears and Jojos and everything is great.

Because they hate fun.

Fxeni

Well, to each their own, I suppose. I personally love most of the 2D Metroids (Fusion not so much), while I only really like one of the 3D ones (the first Prime). The other Primes are alright, and Fusion is alright as well. That said, they're still better than a lot of other games.

Protoman Blues

Out of curiosity, did you guys ever consider the possibility that they didn't put or request a sequel to games like Metroid & Castlevania on the list because those games are still coming out on a somewhat regular basis?

I mean, I'm no gaming expert here, but I'd venture to say that a good portion of the games on that list are games in which are LONG overdue for a sequel, or in which a sequel is not a given.

TeaOfJay

Yeah, I gotta agree with PB on the point of Metroid and Castlevania. Those are games that we don't really have to ask for a sequel.

With that said, I have to agree with Japan on this one. Legends needs a sequel, while the X series can just stay where it is.

Jericho

Well I knew that, hence why I was concerned more so about Star Fox, because the rate at which the games in that series comes out has been slowing down.

I just commented on Metroid because of the posts that brought it up. :P

HokutoNoBen

To think that Gotcha Force (my fave underated GC game ever) is even ON the list, let alone at NUMBER 4...?

There IS hope for the human race, after all!  0v0

Overall, I love this list. Especially the love for Ogre Battle, DASH, ACE, Justice Gakuen (Rival Schools), Earth Defense Force and Jet Set Radio. That warms my normally cold heart.  8)

Satoryu

PB: it sure looks to me that Metroid's future is a little in question. the Primes are supposedly done, and we're long overdue for a new 2D entry.

Starfox needs a good boot in the ass to get it back to Starfox 64 standards. Command was painfully bad.

Sato: Boy, that Metroid Dread would be nice right about now. Shame it's apparently been axed/hit developmental purgatory.

Fxeni

I remember mentioning this elsewhere around here, but I don't really feel like digging it up. The reason Starfox has degraded is that Nintendo has completely lost touch with what made Starfox awesome in the first place. They're focusing on completely the wrong areas. Assault featured too many On-Foot missions and All-range areas. Command was entirely made of All-range areas. All-range areas are better off being minimal (for boss areas and such), and the bulk of the game should be Corridor sections... that's where the awesomeness is. Also, more Arwing missions than anything else is needed.

Oh yeah... lack of Metroid Dread makes me sad.

STM

Can we also throw in a story that doesn't make a person want to break their DS in two? I hated how Command amounted to really just being a furry fanfic between Fox and Krystal most of the time. Yeah, cool, we have a female in Star Fox (Second if you want to count Faye.) Why the hell do we need a love angle? Can't we just focus more on blowing up the alien menace without needing to flesh out some completely irrelevant angle? At least speaking of James McCloud, who has apparently since amassed a human form and is (questionably) disco dancing at night clubs because he can't beat Captain Falcon was relevant and interesting (for the most part.)
