The song's title is actually Hikaru Asu E, not Ashita, but no big diff.
I did do a translation of it to sing obnoxiously to during a Thanksgiving road trip. It's embellished, so it's far more wordy than its Japanese counterpart, because many Japanese words have far more syllables than English words, and I wanted my words to roughly match the rhythm of the singer's, where otherwise I might be trying to stretch one word into 4 different beats. Some of the words are just a matter of personal choice, for example there are literally dozens of different ways to translate "Sou sa," but I preferred to make it a kind of pun reference to Dr. Right, since so much of the lyrics seem to be references to Rockman game scenes anyway. This trans is not especially professional, and I wasn't sure if I wanted to share it or not, but what the hey, we're all nerds here. As far as the meaning of the song, I think it captures it well enough for those curious.
To a Bright Tomorrow
Watching a crimson sunset,
imagining your silhouette
drifting gently over the evening sky
Above the stars are shining
below the city lights aglow
radiantly they twinkle in harmony
Looking down your chosen road
can't help wondering what the future may hold
That's right,
everyone who walks a-long this winding road
stumbles and falls,
but you pick yourself up again!
That's right,
always facing a-head, you will overcome
you know you can cross any obstacle
to a bright tomorrow
In the windy lonesome Autumn,
in the freezing cold of Winter too
though all alone, you still go out walking
Flower blossoms on a Spring breeze
and Summer's endless stretch of clouds
are spreading out, just across the horizon
And even during times of pain,
your heart stays as warm and bright as the sun
That's right,
everyone who walks a-long this winding road
will cry sometimes,
but you laugh your tears away!
That's right,
always facing a-head, you will overcome
anybody that tries to block your way
to a bright tomorrow
That's right,
everyone who walks a-long this winding road
step after step,
come let your courage show!
That's right,
always looking ahead, we will overcome
together we know we'll reach our goal
to a bright tomorrow
In case you were wondering what was going on in the background, this is basically the refrain, repeated about 3 times...
oooh ooooh
aaah aaah
ooooh everlasting
ooooh everlasting
you get the power
you get the pleasure
you get to be bringing the future
ooooh everlasting
ooooh everlasting
you get the power
you get the pleasure
you get to be new lovely shiny ooooh
aaah aaah aaah aaaah
