Considering that Ray is a incomplete "vampire" robot that absorbs other robots in order to survive, it could be that Ray is neither male nor female.
Besides that, I do believe that a homonym of "Ray" is "Rei", which means zero in Japanese. And I do recall that Rei has been used as a girl's name, which is likely why the wiki refers to "Ray" as a girl...
Also, I do wonder something about this new character: who created Ray, and why was Ray left unfinished?
Part of me wants to believe that Ray was not created by any human scientist, but is in fact a sort of being created from the Xel itself, made from thousands upon thousands of robots made from the stuff. In other words, a mind hive taking the form of a robot, complete with a "We are Legion" sort of vibe...
Whether it happens that way or not, it's still well worth noting that Ray being a "vampire" robot is an interesting notion as a rival, although whether or not they can do it right is another matter entirely...

Quick question, guys... I don't know if this was discussed before, but I found on YouTube that some people were discussing whether or not Palutena of all people would become playable, among other things. What do you guys think about that?
Oh and here's the link to said vid, just for reference...

« on: March 16, 2014, 09:43:06 PM »
Sorry that I'm late to the Call party, but there's something that actually came to mind when I was thinking about how Call would be considered as "more robotic then Beck" and all that, and realized that maybe Call can be compared to Beck as to what a Robot Master can be compared to a Reploid in terms of emotions and other things. If I remember correctly, there were some differences, mainly the fact that a Reploid's personality and mindset can evolve over time, while a Robot Master is mostly just stuck with the personality that they were programmed with. If that ends up being what one of the differences between them are, then showing said distinction in-game would be... interesting, to said the least.
To put it another way, Call could be considered as Roll, and Beck could actually be considered as Megaman X, rather than Classic Megaman. That's my thought on the matter.

Yeah, I can see where this can be a problem, too. Opinions are like a lens, after all: they color the way that we view things. That she'll be the "lens" for the Mighty No. 9 community...

« on: November 02, 2013, 02:58:08 PM »Something tells me they wouldn't publish for Inafune even if he was the only man on earth capable of saving them from certain financial doom.
I would actually disagree with you there, Flame, as I believe that Inafune may be saying what he says because he knows that Capcom is in serious trouble, and he likely feels that they will cave in at some point and "take his hand" in order to help pull them out of the [parasitic bomb] that they're in right now. I feel that he's being optimistic about Capcom getting back to its senses, but I don't see why he shouldn't be. Desperation is a great motivator towards doing what you normally would never do, and that sort of thing worked on Capcom while he was still in Capcom, so there's no reason why it would not work now.
Still, for the sake of speculation, I actually would ask all of RPM a question(if it's okay to do so): Who do you think should be the publisher for Mighty No. 9?

Ok. That's helpful. Is it still a hold item, and who has to hold it in order for it to take effect if this is so?

How so, PB? How is it different from before?
Also, I presume that berries are still a thing in this game, yes? Because, if so, I'm so going to grow a Leppa(PP restore) and Persim(confusion cure) (and Lum(full heal), if I can find one in game lying around) berry farm to have an edge, just like I do in Platinum.
Personally, I wish that there was a way to get some Lansat(Critical rate up) berries, since a free source of Dire Hit would be nice to have, even if I end up never using it in battle(and I recall that there's a pokemon with an ability(Cheek Pouch) that makes any berry into a HP restoring item when used on it, so it gives me a reason to use it(Hp heal and Crit rate up? Yes, please.)).

Hi guys. Thought I should say some stuff while I'm here.
I heard something of a rumor of Typhlosion being reclassified as Fire/Fairy somewhere. I have no idea as to whether or not it's true. Can someone confirm or deny this?
Also, I presume that Sylveon is the only new Eevee evolution for this generation, yes?

« on: October 02, 2013, 07:27:08 AM »Also WHY did they exclude the Aeon and Iris Call designs? Why weren't they in the character design contest?
If I remember correctly, it was said somewhere that each artist was to submit one design for Call, and the artist who did those designs simply didn't choose that as their one design. Besides, my bet is that the designs that we're thinking about that got excluded were all from the same artist as the one who did design F(They looked similar to me, so...), so that's why.

Sakura, you should be more worried about the fact that it will probably be able to learn pretty much any attack with the word "slash", "blade", or "cut" in it(which is a much larger group of moves than one would expect, and most of them have a high crit ratio). And let's face facts, Game Freak is likely going to make an elemental trio of blade attacks(Fire, Ice, Thunder) for the occasion as well, because why not(I actually do expect them to do so at some point, and a generation where they have an actual sword for a mon to work with is as good a time as any). And as a Ghost type that has a Pokedex entry that says that it can suck the life of whoever wields it like a sword, the chances are more than good that it'll have a life draining move as well(and likely a new physical Ghost type version at that, unless they decide that Giga Drain and its ilk would qualify as "absorbing life force from others" in that sense(I had always considered said series of Grass type moves to be the equivalent of a blood sucking move, rather than a pure "life force drain"))...
Anyways, it could be far worse. Duoblade could be able to learn Guillotine(three guesses as to why that would be worse, and the first two don't count).

Greetings from the great beyond, fellow RPMers. I came a while back and saw this very thing on the forum, not to mention that I saw the whole Mighty No. 9 thing floating around the web much earlier...
Anyways, as I am finally back again, I came here to say that I've finally donated $20 so I could get a copy when it comes out.
Also, I wanted to say something about what people call "Pink Call", and that is this: remember that this game is basically a love letter to the genre that Megaman is from, and if people truly think of this as the successor to Mega Man, then one should realize one thing...
Rock = Beck
Roll = Call
Blues = ???(which is my point)
For all that we know, "Pink Call" may actually be part of a future vote towards who will play the role of Mighty No. 9's equivalent to Blues, or something...
Either that, or comcept will see how many people actually want "Pink Call" and will... well, they'll do something about it. That much I do know.
As for Tron's statements about Inafune being sly and all that, Flame's pretty much nailed it on the head and hard. People are longing for their fix of Mega Man, and the man is simply trying to fulfill that need. He knew that people wanted Mega Man, and that Capcom wasn't pulling it off for the fans, so that's why he made Beck and co. He knew that people would want this so bad that they can and will literally throw money at him just to do this. He probably has read forums like this one, and knew that this is how we felt about things. As far as I'm concerned, he knew that the whole Kickstarter thing would not only get off the ground, but would fly off so damn fast that it could reach escape velocity, hit the moon, split it in half and still keep on going. It's that simple.

Quick question for everyone... Is Roll a part of the roster yet? Because they could end up just putting her into the game instead, and declare it done...
On the other hand, if they decide to put in Blues over either of the blue ones, then they could say the same thing(declare it done for their Megaman quota), and people like PB would cry out "YEEEEESSS!" over his debut....

Then, like Tobonobu Itagaki before him, Infaking's departure from Capcom may end up being a good thing for the gaming community as a whole...
Personally, here and now, I'm calling it: Capcom has invoked the "Curse of the Bambino" by not allowing Inafune to make games as he likes, frustrating him to the point of him leaving them. The death of Legends 3 may of been the big wig's choice, but between the backlash from that, the groaning of people saying "another Marvel vs Capcom 3? Come on...", and news like this...
I think that Capcom is going to be hitting some dark times in the near future.
