Almost a Month, now. I have grown kind of curious
How is programming the new engine going?

Have you been able to finish the coding on X´s and Zeros moves?
Is it a lot more work now that you have removed the timeline?

You changed some things on the layout and personally I find it much better now. Nice job!

Your cousin had way more experience with the game or with side scrolling games in generall, hasnt he?
But never the less a nice example how a unfamiliar player would play the game :)

You actually can, just have to shoot really fast, but the player will 100% get hit there the first time.

Hmm.. then it would be a good call to make the celling higher or to let the player see the enemy while climbing down the leader.
Or if you say that you can out-dash the enemy, save youself whit a walljump and then let the enemy tast some nice shots to the back of his head. Well, that would be just as good.

A another Question concerning the Hboots. Is a Highjump reseting your dashcount - meaning can you perform an airdash after it?

Also you told us that you will balance the RR with repair time.. how about doing even more and make the repair costly in some ways.
Like 1/4 of the RR Hp can be handled by the intra-repairsystem of the RR. For every more dmg you need to get back to the Hunter Base and offer some energie from your sub-tank to get the repaired getting started. In Higher difficulties it would prefend players from spamming them.

That way you could even get a room down in the Hunterbase that would display the currend RR armor beeing repaired. Hanging from the celling like in X3 (the base RR) plus some mechanic parts that moves up and down making it look as it would be currently under repair. Just a thought of mine.

No, but I nerfed that enemy right after the video, I might increase the tunnel height a little also.
I see. Well too bad that you nerved it i was like: "Yeah, finally an enemy that rush at you and wont die that easily." Wouldn't even mind having two of them down there as long as you can avoid beeing hit, that is.

Still working on enemies, I have a bunch pending to code.

A new Video - nice :)

You have some very pretty bacKground now. Liked it especially the double layered once. :)
Tileset also made some big leaps! If the rest of the maps looks like that too then you can start to match sotn.


And now some nit-picking (it is nitpicking on a high lvl so dont take it to heart) and questions:
The change from 2:03-2:08 where you could see the mountains in the bachground getting stuck in the air was kind of strange.
Properly no way to soften that up, is there? And if you want to cover the whole map do you need to jump down there several times?

Also the Layout repeat on the background for example at 6:15 was something that meet the eye.

The titelset that started at 3:12 seemed a little bright for my opinion, but that could just be me.

The enemy that rushed at you at 3:19 can you actually dashjump over it?

Some areas still looked a little uninhabited. Will there be more enemys on higher difficulties?

[Edit] It sound negativ I knew it... well thats just minor details i guess you know how much i look forward to that game, do you?

Hope to see some very nice background and titles then.
You know I am one of the Megaman X players how likes to rush trough the stages.
I know half the time of playing megaman X is fighting against bosses, so the fights need to be decent, but what I really was enjoying was the speed constantly moving forward, gaining new stuff become stronger. That was/is the most fun part in the games, at least for me.

AND let me tell you one thing if you would manage to give the stages or "map" half of the soul that every room in Castlevania symphony of the night had  you will have a game that will be played for generations to come.
symphony of the night not only had an unbelievable amount of features and ways to play it. It had also the most beutifull and intimate settings.
Rooms that seem wast even tho its a 2D game, eyes that stare at you while you head to the other end of the room, a full moon half covered by clouds with black birds crossing the scean. It was a masterpice... sry i got side tracked somehow

The man point would be that the Maps are a very importend feature that most ppl tend to forgett.

I know they're joking and all, but those "ETTS GWEEN BIKA DOOD" comments are kinda annoying. My 2 cents  -_-
Leave "Green Biker Dude"-comments alone!!  ;O;

Let them talk it won´t do any harm. And you have to admit that beeing green and having big spiked ear-parts was the main feature of the green biker dude too - along with rusching at full speed into enemy-fire that is ;)

What a rather dark and omnious track there at start, JKB! And then the switch to the fast-pace and catchy part like after a boss' intro theme and onto his battle theme. I love it! ^_^
Well, the first track is "Strike´s Theme" and the second  track is "Strik´s Battle" after all.
One for appearance and one for Battle.

It seams we can hope to see Strike more then once in the game or he would not have a Theme beside his Battlesong.

Our Main chars are more or less done. I hope the armors too.
RobotRide-Armors should be finished by now too. Skill´s well almost...
What will be the next big projekt for the game then, JKB? :)

While we are at it, how is the work with titleset gooing?

I remember that it always where a rather critical point as there where to few artist that could help out with that and you wanted to replace and upgrade quiet a few of them too

Not only Phoenix and Hydra but Ultimate and Zero armors also got a few balance changes.
We remade PHead;
Added an insta-auto charge mechanic to PBody;
HArmor now blocks 1 point on enemy touch damage. (It's the only defense you can get from armors so it's still good even on S);

Things you didn't know:
The HBoots also increases mobility underwater;
HHead can pull in hard-placed items on the map. There are several ones that can only be pulled in or very hard to reach including Extra Lives.

Ah yeah forgott about fast walking underwater and also that PBoots let you walk on lava ;)

PBody have now a "insta-auto charge" insted of the wdmg increase when low on health = Interesting, sounds a little bit like hyper-C to me.
I am exited about that new PHead.

HBody sounds good now with the additonal def and possible Invulnerablity towards weak enemys.

But the only def that you get from Armors?
So you removed the orginal def boost from Ultimate it seems. Well if balance calls for it, I dont mind.

Keep the good work up we are way to exited over here :)

Hey JKB-Team

we have a nice Phoenix armor, if i remember correctly:

PHead = reacharges WE (very usefull)
PBuster = New homing Weapon (good good)
PArmor = More Wdmg if low on hp (properly rewarding in A and S difficulty)
PBoots = More speed and posipility of additional dmg (speed is always nice and dmg too :D)

and on the other hand we have the Hydra armor whis is somehow lacking:

HBoots = high jump (a new move is fine with armor combo it even gets great)
HBuster = New spreed Weapon (very very nice :D )
HArmor = Do dmg on impact ( does it reflect a portion of the dmg and throw it back at the enemy reducing the overall damage on X? If not it will get useless after B difficulty because you dont want to get hit by that time anymore.)
HHead = Pulls energie Items (low usfullnes on C and B Difficulty and with A and S it allmost wont have anything to Pull anymore... )

Thats a short rundown of what we know so far about the armors, now to my question:
Did anything change on the armor settings or do you plan to change something in the future?

He already confirmed starting dialogs.

And well, i guess it will still take some time
Imagine that it's just 1 boss, there are 7 more to go.
Then Bug fixes. They changed the Upgrade-Tree. Properly again new bugs because of that.
As far as i know they still exchange and upgrade titelsets.
And JBK never stated that he dont need new and more enemys and minibosses.

I guess the game is pretty much incomplete yet.
But i know what you mean. With that bossfight I have the same feeling of ALMOST  8)

Wonderful, with one boss already done it feels almost like the game is on its last lap to strike an phenomenal first place.
Have you some sheets for the other 7 mavericks in stock already or are you once again in dire need for sheets?

This game won't have a stage selection screen and instead a Hunter base, wasn`t that right?

So is there any chance that we will find some kind of big ass monitor in the hunter base where we can look up on the Maveric-bios?
Maybe even with additional information like:
-how much harth-tanks we have collected so far
-how much of the overall map was discovered so far
-maybe even a replays of the weapon-get plus some short info about the weapon itself
-or even a list of all the armor-combinations that we have tryed out ?

At least i would like to have a place where i can read up on the mavericks, atks and find out what parts I had combined in the past to get whatever effect it caused.

He mainly showed how gameplay is with a low lvl char.
And I tell you he was dying alot. There where no hater screaming that the game is to easy.

Also we got to see some of the new enemys a little part of the new marsh area and at the end even some new armor combination effects.
Pretty heavy stuff. I was especialy lucky to see it, cause i just got on the forum - clicked on the link - and like 15 sec later the stream was going.

Like it, an enemy thats rather hard to reach but still a must kill.
And i see it blocking a path at the beginning so that you must return to that spot later on :D

You won't get bored playing this game.

If you keep on refining that game like you proved yourself to do I certently wont.

I just would wish that this game ends up as a downladable version.
So that we do not need to fear that the game wont be reachable for us somewhere in 6 years after the official release

So it isnt as far stretched to believe that a simple (over 100 years old) data sheet of a person can create more powerful systems then any living professor, doctor and specialist of that time. Well, if that's what you want to believe.. fair enough for you then but it isnt something I can agree with.

But lets not lose the topic.. back to Corrupted.

Now that X seams to be ready more or less (maybe still bug issuse?)

Finally added mugshots to dialogs.



EDIT:
I updated the dialog system to grab text from an XML file. Now it will be possible for foreign communities to make their own translation of the game.

I like how the capsules have the same color as the corresponding armor.
And finally Dr. Cain is back. Its nice to have him make the armors insted of Light.
It covers up a great plothole that was slowly bilding up in the X games.
I mean it was getting a little bit unrealistic how Light was able to finish like 30+ diffrent sets of armors for his finall creation, wasnt it?

Only for spiked enemies, drones and junk ride.
No, there won't be any way of increasing shot count, this is for balancing purposes.

And here I was getting my hopes up for a way overpowered X-build.
Well as it stands he will be more powerfull then Zero anyway
- like in any X game so far atho Zero holds a lot of power in this game, too.

Ahhn one more question:

On S-Rank-Mode will there be a posibility to fill up energie tanks?
If enemys dont drop anything anymore and all fill ups on maps are small. It seams like we will have a hell of a time fillig up subtanks.

And will be Zero be fixed on his currend armor or will we be able to switch them at will?

Question time once again.
Finally i have some time on my hands.

1. The central skill-tree of the Neurospike: are the skills related just to the neurospice-weapon or maybe for X itself? - Sadly, from the video alone I couldn´t tell at all.

2. Seeing as how imoprtant the shotcount will be in that game -at leats for X - is there a way to increase the number of shots he can fire at a time? Maybe i was just blind but i didnt see it in his skill trees so only option is story-power-up or Armor-combo.

3. Have you made your finall decision what will be max lvl for each mode? Or is that still in the dark and will be revisited after, i dont know the bosses are done? Would have been nice if we could lvl till we have everything on max but that dream wont come true i guess.

Nice addition to the EMP Spark.
I like how it shots sparks. But what do you mean with "on detonation"?
Can you decide if the initial sparke flys down, up or even straigth and is there a way to make it detonate for tactical advantage?

Well to bad you tuned down the wind razor, but well maybe it was in fact imba..
Hope it remains still usefull at rushing

Neurospice became unbelivable usefull, too. It seems to stop big enemies in their traits - if i am correct - and then the new drones and also the extra ride armor, really nice. Protoman is back! BEWARE  >0<

Btw the Missilies will be much faster and stronger than the neurospike drones, right?
Or du you plan to change them in a way too?
