Rockman Series / Re: The story of Rockman Online
« on: December 31, 2010, 04:54:35 PM »
Well, Sigma now appears to be one of the antagonistic forces in Rockman Online. So does that change anyone's view of this project's place in the canon? After all, Lumine stated categorically in X8 that Sigma would be gone for good. He's clearly not gone for good in this game. Any educated thoughts?

Zero / Re: Why wasn't the Forbidden Ark launched into the sun?
« on: November 29, 2010, 11:55:12 PM »Because even a Solar powered robot can totally withstand the heat of the sun. This is Omega we're talking about. Are we so certain that the sun would actually have destroyed him before making escape from the ark possible? He did fight Leviathan and Fefnir without taking a scratch. The guy road a missile (I can't remember if it was nuclear) to ground zero and floated away completely unharmed.

Magma Dragoon Kuujinkyakus all over Wolfang.
Dragoon pretty much has every advantage over Wolfang from a cooler design, to more powerful techniques, to being the leader of a Hunter unit. Then there's the fact that Dragoon has Wolfang's elemental weakness.

I like Wolfang and voted for him before, but Dark Mantis wins a contest between the two, IMO. He's quite a bit more aggressive and those giant beam blades of his are awesome.

This was a really tough one. I love both characters. Still, at the end of the day, I think Dragoon's power and skill would prevail over Kuwanger's speed and instant movement. It would be a heckuva battle.

I like Heatnix's design and attacks more, so I voted for him. Pandemonium's name is win, though.

Kuwanger. Speedster. Instant Transmission. Brother to Beetle. Elite Hunter.
All of the above, not to mention Dinorex has no moves that look quite as cool as Kuwanger tossing X headfirst into the ceiling.

Still gotta go with Wolfang.

Beetle comes packed with 100% more awesome. He's no underwater artist, but his back story is still better. And then there's still that collapsing a city block in a black hole thing.

Wanted something different here, so instead of weighing boss design, music, nostalgia and so forth, I pictured an actual battle between Storm Eagle and Dark Mantis. Who's stronger IMO: Mantis simply cuts Eagle to ribbons. He has too many attack options at close and distant range. And Mantis's giant beam blades are the clincher.

Kuwanger. I like his design, his back story, and his fighting abilities. How does one make a speedster even speedier? Give him instantaneous transmission.

I feel like bucking the popular vote. Wolfang for me. He's an easy boss, but I like his design and his back story. Its not every lead investigator that can fight off a mob of mavericks.

It is difficult to decide this one. I think I'll have to side with Slash Beast. Blast Hornet should have been a whole lot more impressive in battle (considering he was second in command of the 0th Unit). In execution, he was pretty lame. Slash Beast does not suffer that problem. He runs down a speeding train in his entrance, his attacks come fast and furious, and he wields two beam blades on each arm. Oh, and he also uses Twin Slash. 'Nuff said.

Flame Stag. Tick him off and he'll uppercut you high above the arena, then slam you back into the ground. If impressive punches and speed aren't enough for you, Stag was also a member of the elite 17th unit.

The Chameleon Kool-Aid looks delicious. I'll have a bit.
Sting Chameleon is clearly superior. Along with his patented Chameleon Stinging tail, he's also got that spiffy charged attack in Maverick Hunter X which, IIRC, allows him to fire energy beams from his mouth.

Sheldon. He's a teleporter with reflector shields and the ability to create a clone of himself. While Sponge is cool for his love of dance, I don't think he can compete with Sheldon in the battle department

Beetle. Not only is he brother to that teleporting speed-demon Kuwanger, but he's also got the power to manipulate gravity and black holes. Collapsing an entire city block into a singularity FTW.

X / Re: why is x the weakest character in the game
« on: June 07, 2010, 06:59:40 PM »Nobody really threw Zero a frikkin' bone outside of his own series. As you say, I recall that Zero was rescued more than a few times by X in the MMZ series. X gave Zero the Z-Saber so he wouldn't get stomped by a Golem. He hacked Neo Arcadia so Zero could actually get close to it and apparently protected Zero when Area X blew up. He also dissolved the power of Dark Elf-empowered-Omega after the entire Resistance Force turned on Zero and Ciel. Then he allegedly protected Zero again from Omega's final destruction.

Gaming / Re: ITS MAHVEL 3 BAYBEE (The MvC3 topic)
« on: April 27, 2010, 03:31:07 PM »All valid points. Believe me, I think it's such a shame that Spectacular Spidey was canceled. However, I really do think that was the best cartoon version of Spidey there was, in terms of writing and fantastic Spidey-quippage, so I'd love to see him voice MvC3 Spidey, or at the very least the up-incoming Ultimate Spidey cartoon.Win. Josh Keaton did an amazing job with Peter Parker in that show. He's my pick for MvC3 Spidey. I love me some 90s Spidey, but when you take a step back, the writing was horribly uneven, much like the animation. And the inner monologues; argh, the inner monologues won't stop!

X / Re: i wanna play as sigma
« on: April 26, 2010, 04:27:04 PM »For all we know his bald head could have bullet-reflecting properties. His saber has everything-reflecting properties. That's enough for me. The rapid-directional blaster in his forehead would be cool. Seems that Sigma's style of combat would need to be mostly saber based, but perhaps not as adaptive as Zero. I'm not sure that I'd want him to copy elements, but faster and more varied saber combos would be pretty sweet. I'm envisioning something Dante-esque. Sigma is really tall, so it might be wise to incorporate some kind of evasion technique. There needs to be something that at least hints at his ridiculously fast speed.
Playing as Sigma would be dream come true for me. I wonder if there's any chance for him to show up in MvC3?

Original / Re: Top Spin is not useless
« on: April 26, 2010, 04:13:23 PM »I think the main argument against Top Spin is that there are safer ways to deal with enemies than going ballerina in their face. It's hard to argue with that.Ballerina?! Tatsumaki-Senpū kyaku, surely.
Personally, I'm a fan of melee moves, so I don't mind taking an extra risk to use them. Charge Kick, Break Dash, and Top Spin are awesome moves, and like any fighting technique, you have to take range and timing into account. Once you've done that, these weapons become a very effective part of Mega Man's arsenal.
....it can one shot Metal Man. It's so powerful it can one-shot it's creator.Isn't that only in easy mode? I thought it took two shots to kill Metal Man otherwi--

X / Re: Maverick: Misnomer or Justified term?
« on: February 27, 2010, 01:51:17 PM »Possibly. I doubt humans would allow them the same rights, most would probably still and only see them as tools for aiding a human and nothing more. Bigotry and abuse could also follow as well since a reploid should not fight back without severe repercussions.I don't know about reformations, but capturing and imprisoning reploids is considered a viable option at least at the start of the X series. Vile was imprisoned rather then destroyed on sight. It seems that Vile was considered a fairly destructive Maverick, so if he was simply put in prison, then it stands to reason that some Mavericks might also be captured rather then immediately retired.
So I don't believe they would have the same rights, despite how human they may be, at least for a long while.
But reformations were probably more common until Sigma went off the deep end with the virus.
Of course, these captured Mavericks might simply be held for trials or public executions. The series doesn't seem to specify.

X / Re: Sigma's Belial Form (X8)
« on: January 14, 2010, 03:12:59 AM »The virus still lives if he dies. Only the portion of him that actually carried his soul dies.If we're talking about the Sigma Virus, then my understanding (based on the many musings of Zan, Marshmallow, and Hypershell) is that Sigma's life essence was so tied up with the thing, it would be impossible to eradicate him unless every last trace of the virus were destroyed.
Me, I really don't think Sigma is gone-for-good-dead. He's just supervillain dead. Supervillains have a tendency to revive against all odds and expectations. For instance, the majority of the Street Fighter community was absolutely sure M. Bison died in Street Fighter II at the hands of Akuma. Then Street Fighter 4 rolls around. Guess who the Shun Goku Satsu failed to kill.

« on: December 24, 2009, 04:28:27 PM »Good Replroids are all Young-Earth CreationistsOh, you went there.
To be honest, I'm excited by the announcement of MM10, but slightly disappointed by the notion that it will return to the 8-bit style. Not strongly disappointed, mind, you, I just wanted to see what Classic Mega Man could really do in a next gen arena. 10 seemed like a big, round, magic number to attempt a next gen foray.
