Oh sure, we all thought about it. But I had the guts TO DO IT!!! >BD

! No longer available (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8OMm3l_0V90#) - Mark Gatha as X
Today I finished hacking the PC version of X4 to add voice clips by Lucas Gilbertson, including his recent Zero/Iris death redub with Ashley Schroeder.
If by chance you have tracked down the PC X4, you can apply the hack for yourself with ease.
CURRENT VERSION download (4.0):

I might make another version where the voice for Iris is kept. ^^;
YOU MUST MAKE X INTO MARK GATHA :W
kickass. like I said on Youtube, Zero sounds rather ANGRY... lol.
also, Is there any way to hack the Sigma music into its correct order? for some reason, thats always bugged me.
QuoteYOU MUST MAKE X INTO MARK GATHA :W
This!
But leave sigma... I liked his X4 voice. Nothing quite compares to TREMBLE IN TERROR YOU ARE FINISHD
or, ARWE YOU READY FOR YOUR FINAL JOURNEY?

Patience, young padawan...
It's further along than you might think. But there's another little easter-egg or two that I want to track down before I make another release.
QuoteIs there any way to hack the Sigma music into its correct order?
I suppose I should actually FINISH the PC game before I ask this, but what part of Sigma's music order is incorrect?
EDITS: Nevermind, it's as simple and stupid as I thought. Yes, I'll fix that.
I wouldn't mind someone redubbing General to actually sound like a giant hulking robot. His English voice makes him seem like a giant robotic Mandark on steroids.
I liked generals voice... it sounded very commanderish. "Rmoove yurslf frum mui site ui will nut butray the Humuns."
ugh... I never thought it would be so hard to find PC X4
someone needs to find a way to hack this onto the PS1 disk. now THAT would really rock socks.
I...I love you Hypershell! Babies, yes? 8D
Now you should replace someone's voice with the king from the zelda CDi games.
Because this peace is what all true warriors strive for, mah boi.
UPDATED!
Second version is out. Includes voice clips by Mark Gatha, voice clips with the victory jingles, Japanese opening and ending songs, and I corrected that Sigma music bug that Flame mentioned. X YouTube video will follow shortly.

Have fun, folks!

Motion for General.
So, think you can upload the game itself? finding X4 for the PC aint that easy. :\
There'd be some nasty copyright issues with that (not like there already aren't) but Capcom would be more likely to kick the crap out of someone if we posted a fully patched version here.
Start hunting.

Yahoo answers actually has the answer.
Yeah, I realize PC X4 is elusive. But we don't need Capcom kicking the crap out of us. They tend to not stomp out encouraging the fans; they even turn a blind eye to soundtrack downloads if they don't believe it'll cut into Japanese sales. But it's a safe bet distributing the full game would be over the line.
Besides, Google works. It's a pain to find a version that hasn't been stripped down, but it's out there.
dont worry. tis done. :cookie: ;)
Genius! 0v0
And I happen to have an actual copy of X4 PC sitting around...
I think I know what I'll be doing Friday night! ;)
Nice work Hyper, good thing PC games are much easier to hack than PS ones huh? XD

Would distribution of the full game over PM/e-mail be acceptable then?
someone seriously needs to find a way to put this on the disc.
I would cream my pants playing this on my PS.
unless the same files work on the PS1 disc?
I sincerely doubt PS1 movies are stored as Indeo-compressed windows AVI files.

No.
Okay, got the Mark Gatha as X clip on YouTube. And, while it was in the middle of processing, they decided to run site maintenance. >_< When they're finished, you can find it here:

Question, Shellhead: is there any way to run this goddamn game windowed?
F4.
Display changes only work when there is NOT a video cutscene playing.
Nice.
One more question: I am to believe that the second patch you've released is cumulative and includes the modifications from the first one, right?
Absolutely. If it wasn't, I wouldn't have replaced the old link. :P
Shellhead, your latest patch version doesn't work. I keep hearing X's and Zero's girly voices as their in-stage grunts and groans. Make sure you're replacing the right files. -_-
All that's left is to draw Gatha in just to redub X in cutscenes (ha!) and someone who can be more... fitting... for General, short of...
"It's about the Maverick Hunters, General. They are far too eager to please the humans and continue to hunt down the reploids. Do you believe they propose a significant threat."
"Mah Boi..."
"You've already know the truth, General. Blah blah blah reploids."
"Hmm..."
"You have to stop them now, before they turn on you! Blah blah destroy!"
"....Mah boi, this peace is what all true warriors strive for!"
"...WHAT?!"
"Enough! My ship sails in the morning. I wonder what's for dinner?"
"...heheh. Very well. But you will change your mind soon, I assure you."
...Quite frankly, that'd make for an epic cutscene. 8D
(brutally beaten)

You sure you got the files in the right folders? The in-game grunts are SE/VO_PL00.SEZ (for X) and SE/VO_PL01.SEZ (for Zero).
EVERY file in the package should be replacing an existing one. Check your other folders and make sure you didn't accidentally drop them in the wrong place.
I'm going to redownload that myself to be absolute certain, but I'm pretty damn sure that all files are included as they should be. I checked the zip out several times before uploading.

YES, I made sure they replaced everything as you mentioned here and as the readme file said. If I wasn't, I wouldn't be reporting the files malfunctioning here, boy. :P
Well, I just finished restoring my X4 to original condition off the disc, played to verify girly voices returning, downloaded the patch off of MegaUpload, and applied it. I'm getting Mark Gatha as X, so something's wrong on your end.
You didn't get the old link by any chance, did you? The second version should be labeled "X4WFF" (old one was "X4LG"). It includes 7 files to replace; 2 in STR, 2 in SE, 5 in BGM.
If you are ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN all files were replaced as they should be (You can play the AVIs by themselves, and play the .SE BGMs as WAVs to check), then the only other thing I could imagine going wrong is your game reading the files off the CD instead of off of your hard drive.
Can't be, since I'm using a No-CD patch to play the game. No disc on any of my drives.
And maybe you're getting Gatha, but all I'm getting is girly X with his "Get ready!" and girly Zero with his three-way slash.
Delete the mentioned files, see what happens.

Either that was a typo or your version of the game is [tornado fang]'d. Because X should not be saying that whether the patch is working or not.
Patch is working fine for me. Its awesome. The only thing that could be better is if EVERYTHING was re-dubbed. But that wont happen so I will take this.
And give you a :cookie:

Never mind about the patch malfunctioning -- shitty registry was acting up and referencing misplaced files. Fixed now.
How did you [tornado fang] up your computer so badly the registry got messed up?

Keep a live registry monitor always active to know what's going on with my registry, but while I was installing the game the software crashed and that seemed to have caused the malfunction.
I told you it was on your end.

Kind of a big background noise difference between the two. It's like Iris speaks when you're driving up a mountain road and your ears need to pop.
To tell the truth I never much cared for the accent. But I did think the original actress had a cute tone of voice.

That's the one thing I will give SOME of the X4 Dub cast: characters like Zero, Iris and Colonel probably had the right "tone of voice" for the characters, but they just couldn't act worth a damn. 8D
I realy liked X4's sigma. I dont know what it was, but his voice sounded so appropriate...
Well, X4 Sigma did have a kickass laugh.
One thing, though: Shellhead, I dunno whatever the [tornado fang] was it that you used for the clip whenever X uses Rising Flame, but that "twit"/"quick" or whatever thing starts feeling annoying after a very short while. Where the hell did you pick that one up? XD
It's, "Weak!"
From Command Mission.

That's one of the most paranoid things I've ever heard of...
But if it's just monitoring it shouldn't be able to alter the registry, should it?
Live registry monitors keep watch on what's going on in your registry, and are capable of preventing/rolling back any undesired changes to it. Unfortunately, because of an Explorer crash, mine crashed in tandem, and that seems to have caused the misreferencing.
That's what I was saying though, it oughtn't be able to change a registry reference to something else, just roll back or prevent the change in the first place. But oh well, I'm not sure how the registry even works in the first place - certainly didn't think it could make an old file be used even after it's been overwritten.
Minor update, guys. Somebody on YouTube brought to my attention an unwanted SFX in the Zero/Iris redub. Blame my laziness while recording (back then I hadn't yet found new YouTube file-ripper, and their updates had broken the old ones).
Anyways, finally got off my lazy butt and fixed it. And, since Comcast is considerably less stingy with personal web space than Verizon, I'm happy to give MegaUpload the shaft.
Latest download. (http://home.comcast.net/~Anguirus/X4WFF.zip)
I know this is one hell of a bump, but I finally got around to patching this badboy on to my X4 PC copy and it's pretty damn cool.
I was wondering though if it'd be possible to re-add in the dialog the Mavericks had. I know some had pre-battle taunts in Japanese that were straight up gutted as them speaking some crazy moon language would scare Americans.
It's baaaack.
For those not in the know, Lucas Gilbertson uploaded redubs of two more scenes a while back. And Comcast axed the whole personal webspace thing so the old links were dead for quite some time anyway.
Updated download:

In addition to adding Lucas's two new scenes (Zero and Colonel's Memorial Hall battle and the Zero vs. Sigma flashback), I also made a slight tweak to X's in-game clip, namely his charged buster/charged Double Cyclone line. "Eat this!" due to quality/volume issues sounds more like "eat [parasitic bomb]" to a lot of people, so I changed it to "Now!".
Good to see this again, I'll listen to it when I'm not on my Tablet.
I just hope Dropbox doesn't eat this though.....
