Danganronpa is much more disturbing than I initially thought it would be.

I know it's rated M, but it's been hailed as the combination of Phoenix Wright and Zero Escape. So, I assumed it would be lighthearted in some areas. That is not the case, so far.

999 is definitely far more unsettling than VLR, what with it being claustrophobic and the paranoia that you could be murdered at any second... But, somehow, I think Danganronpa is more twisted than all of them.

I don't blame you.

For me, it's not the art style, but the characters appearing as cardboard cutouts during exploration and the class trials.

It kind of takes me out of the immersion.

Admittedly, I kind of had a bit interest in Danganronpa since I heard on TV Tropes it was sort like Phoenix Wright (that and the Zero Escape but I'm not sure if I can emulate those if I can't get them legitimately), but after Retsupurae ripped on one of the games, the hatedom it spawned makes it much harder for me to get into it. Even Mr. DJB has been writing the game off as [parasitic bomb] (even though there's much worse out there if you ask me). The sad part is, what I've read on Retsupurae's YMMV section, that slowbeef wanted to like the game but some [parasitic bomb] happened on the LP threads (I'm guessing it was on Something Awful forum) and here he is, tearing it to pieces.

Why can't this hatred be directed towards something like Banzai Pecan for Christ's sake when the developer of that takes criticism as well as JC the Hyena?

After reading through the comments and watching some of the video, Slowbeef and company don't seem to grasp that it's a VN. Right at the beginning, they're complaining that there's too much text.

Well, no [parasitic bomb], IT'S A VISUAL NOVEL. Usually, I love Retsupurae videos, but I've noticed that they're fairly antagonistic towards anime games.

I'd say give Danganronpa a shot, honestly. It's pretty good so far, although it hasn't immersed me as much as Phoenix Wright or Zero Escape.

Also, I see you, Clefant. Good [parasitic bomb].
