She'll probably grow out of it.

My friend hated cursing back in middle school, as well. But not nearly as bad as your niece, where she dumped her friends because of it.

After being out of touch for years, I find out we go to the same college. And guess what? Now she swears just like everyone else.

It might just be some weird phase.

Still to not be friends with someone because they swear is the same kind of reasoning someone would use in elementary school. Or those video game nerds that no one wants to associate with.

No one should stop being friends with someone or lose friends for such stupid reasons. She probably doesn't realizd how many people she's hurt because of her actions and when she realizes it she'll be ashamed and regret her actions that might not ever be fixed.

She has problems with making friends as it is. She's a major bookworm and kind of weird, and very talkative.

Hmm you know I seem to remember some required reading in High School may have some cussing. I wonder how she would deal with that if she doesn't get over this thing.

EDIT: Yup Catcher in the Rye definitely had some cussing in it.

I've read both along with The Pastures of Heaven, The Long Valley/The Red Pony, The Moon is Down, The Pearl, The Wayward Bus, and East of Eden I think. I was real into his stuff midway through high school.

I'd be willing to say I liked East of Eden most simply for the scale. It's not the longest book I've read by page number, but it sure felt like it.

Harry Potter has mild cussing in it, but she loves those books and read them before she got a bug up her butt about cussing.

She started reading Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children and liked it a lot... up until a character said "[sonic slicer]." Now it sucks, she hates it, and since I picked it out, she'll judge me 5ever.

I still say her parents should start cussing in front of her now. I mean I feel like it would be the only way for her to accept that you shouldn't judge things by cussing since she's not going to leave her parents.

Sorry I just want this to be nipped in the bud before she hurts more people and herself. Or at least minimize the damage.

Moderate swearing IIRC. There was more so in TGOW.
