Gave a couple of my weeb and pre-XInput games a whirl with my Logitech F310 in DirectInput mode and they work like charm. Mega Man X8, Hydorah, Classic La-Mulana, DYSNOMIA Exburst, RosenkreuzStilette, Takkoman -Kouzatsu World-, Ultimate Knight Windom XP, Touhou 12.3, Acceleration of SUGURI, sora... I'm can freely use the D-Pad (which despite looking like the Xbox 360's, actually feels better and much more precise) or analog at my beck and call plus the trigger (L2/R2) buttons that I couldn't use with XInput.
A few problems, one of them mainly has to do with how some of those games never accounted for which buttons are used for the menus. Unlike the Xbox 360's face button layout for A B X Y as buttons 1 2 3 4 respectively, the A B X Y buttons are 2 3 1 4 since it uses the Logitech Dual Action drivers from what it looks like when I switch it DirectInput mode. Some games hard bound the "confirm" and "cancel" buttons on 1 and 2 respectively, which would be X for confirm and A for cancel, or sometimes to certain in-game actions, and also confused me when navigating through the menus because muscle memory. Very few of the developers of the games I play actually thought ahead when it came to gamepad support
unlike DoucheKyo and actually give you the option of changing the menu buttons like RosenkreuzStilette and ETHER VAPOR. I'm also still trying to figure out how to use the Profiler software for DirectInput mode but I seem to ran into a bit of problem when re-arranging buttons since the game will think I'm holding the button for a second or two when I really want it to function as I'm tapping the button.
Also no vibration, but that's to be expected since I didn't went for pricier F510 or the wireless F710.
Here's the sketch card at least.
