That is the Red Ring.  The Red Ring is fueled by blind rage.  The Red Ring essentially functions as your heart and replaces your blood with Rage filled plasma which can burn even in space.

But then he has to die anyway. for either orange or Black he has to die. Except for Orange, you absorb his essence and make an orange light clone of him. for Black, he becomes an undead corpse.

Actually, no.  Essentially all the Black Rings do are re-animate the dead and download your memories so you can get a high emotional response from the person you're trying to rip the heart from.  In a sense, you're not wearing the ring.  The ring is wearing you.

From what we've seen, it does allow flight & space travel, but not creating constructs.  You have the same powers as you did when you were alive.

Actually, I saw BL Amon Sur create constructs from his ring in GL #45, and Abin did as well two issues later.
