The art on that DASH game looks like shitty US boxart.

It does seem weird that while the other two use slightly altered art from their big box releases for whatever reason Dash gets the awful all new art. I wonder what posessed them to do that!

I think it was just X7 that was South Korean exclusive from what I've read/seen. I think X6 did manage to get a slightly wider release in parts of Asia. Unfortunately I've still not managed to track down the big box release of X7, I got close once but just missed out :( Its really the last of the official big box PC releases I need for my collection.

Other nice/notable asian releases I've managed to track down:
(in the above picture in my last post) - The Rockman X4 big box comes with a full colour guide book which details all the levels, secrets etc. and includes full maps to the levels. The X8 comes with a 3rd CD which has a full video guide to the game including bonus/hidden areas which is a cool extra. And in both instances its more than we got for the official Japanese/European/USA PC releases for the games (where applicable)

Rockman Dash: To Save the World, Rockman Dash 2 and Rockman Gold Empire. Dash 2 is probably the nicest boxed PC game I own. I'd think its official, the art all seems to be of Dash 2 (unlike other Asian releases that use any art they can find!) and the overall quality of the box, full colour manual etc. beats out most of the official games I have in my collection. The other 2 games are two of the weird Asian exclusive licensed? games, Gold Empire is a weird monopoly/sim city combo and Dash is a weird edutainment game I believe. Neither are in great condition, I mainly grabbed them just because they are pretty tough to find now in the big box versions.

The other big Asian exclsuive games. IQ Challenge is another puzzle/educational game while Strategy is a full blown SRPG with brand new characters, bosses not to mention pretty much every robot master from MM1-8 shows up to fight. Its not a great game by any means but I still found it really fun and its a really cool collectable to have.
IQ has 3 different package variants I've come across so far. The biggest box release (far left), the smaller box release (middle) and a CD case release. I got both boxed versions sealed but neither had a manual, just the game and box. The CD only release though does have a manual. Not sure why that is. Strategy had two boxed versions, Again, a big box and a smaller box release. Both of those came with manuals though.

Re-releases of some of the Asian games, with odd new box art and smaller boxes. Dash to save the world and IQ challenge accompany Rockman X Math Tornado which is a Math based X game!

I've got a couple of other PC releases from Asia, but those are basically just X or Dash games in slightly different boxes that are fairly unremarkable compared to the above. Fake or real, its a nice part of my collectin and is one of the parts that I enjoy most when tracking down weird and wonderful new variants to add to my collection!

One last game that I almost forgot, this one I unfortunately don't own:

Its an official Capcom release this one, released in China . Its a Special/Limited edition PC release of Rockman X8 (it comes witha tacky looking watch). I've not manage to track down a couple for myself unfortunately, closest I came was Taobao which lists them sometimes but sellers never have them in stock.

OK, I checked the X6 disc and its the PC version no doubt - it goes through a proper install like all PC games and when you boot up the game on the start screen it says "Press Enter" like the PC game should, as opposed to "press start" like the console versions would. It also worked first time on Windows 7, surprising in itself compared to so many other old PC games I've tried to get working on Windows 7!

The Big box X6 I was thinking of is in this picture (Top Right):

Out of interest, where did you get the above picture from? I've never come across either of those X6 or Legends games in the wild before (I think I saw them on Mechanical Maniacs though). I'd love to track them down to add to my collection!

I'm not sure what's going on with Koko Capcom either, the naming is somewhat random at best, as is the art they use for some of their releases!

I've picked up pretty much all the Asian/Korean PC releases I've managed to find over the years for the sake of my collection (I mainly just like the boxes, some of them are presented quite nicely!)

X1-X2 and the Power Battle/Fighters releases are roms packaged with emulators (Snes emu & Snes roms for the X games, MAME emu and roms for the Power Battle/Fighters). In the case of the Power Battle/Fighters 2 pack the game has a barebones front end that lets you choose which game you want to play, then boots up the emulator and roms.

The rest of the games I've tried appear to be PC releases (X3 and up). They all have the normal install/setup processes as the official PC releases and do not appear to be Playstation games emuated from what I've found.

X6 is a tricky one, I've got several different asian PC releases of that including this:

Which has an EA (eletronic Arts) hologram on the box, its the most "official" looking of the releases I have. Still, it seems rather random/odd that EA would be releasing Megaman games on the PC in Asia but who knows...

Then there is the Korean one:
If its the sellers I think yu mean then I'm guessing its this one for sale? I've not personally got round to trying my copy but if you let me know which X6 it is I can check my copyand let you know whether it seems like a PC version or just the Playstation version emulated.
I've got a couple of other odd X6 PC releases as well - A nice big box version with nice art and a big manual as well as a DVD case sized release that seems to have been bundled with a graphics card in Asia by the looks of things(though I've ony got the game, not the entire gfx card bundle)

There is a new copy of it up for sale on the Japanese auction site www.mbok.jp (for 3000 yen) - Its the same place I managed to get my copy from.

How do you recruit/unlock Fan in RM Strategy? I managed to play through the entire game without getting him. The game didn't seem that hard once you get used to the leveling system, the equipment menu's were a little tough to understand but I somehow managed to muddle through. Capricorn did seem completely overpowered though, so I just bought a load of "bomb" items so I could damage him without even fighting him!

Rockmaniac has summed everything up perfectly, nothing I can really add to it. I also didn't realise about the box differences on the 2 original PC games.

Rarity wise Megaman 1 and 3 pop up quite often on eBay so they shouldn't be to hard to find, the other games from my experience are much harder to track down (I still don't have MM Legends boxed).

The Japanese releases all seemed to get at least 2-3 variants for each game (most of these are CD case or DVD case bargain re-releases).

Regarding X8, I've opened my Euro PC version and it does indeed come on 1 DVD where as the Japanese versions I have all come on 2 CD's.

Like Rockmaniac said, the Asian releases are also in my opinion some of the most interesting to collect. Some of the box designs and exclusive games are really interesting.

Glad to know the arcade games aren't too terribly expensive. I may have to look into tracking them down even sooner now. Great deal on the Dash Demo/Beta though I can't wait to find a copy some day. I have only been looking for it for about a year though so I haven't given up yet.

Yeah, I've noticed the prices have become a bit more affordable for the arcade games so now is a good time to look.

I've seen a couple more of the Dash demo in my travels. One was on Ebay a while back and sold for £20 ish and another more recently on Yahoo Japan which was around 600 yen. Unfortunately its not there anymore as it was a bargain at that price.

Very impressive collection Shadowman, it really shows your appreciation for the series if your collecting has been going on for this long! Just had a few questions though regarding your collection.

Is "Rockman Dash Demo/Beta" the disc that was given out to members of the Capcom Friendly Club or something different?
Also if you don't mind me asking how much did you have to pay for the arcade boards? I've been considering lately trying to pick one of the fighting games up.
And lastly is your Rockman Battle & Fighters Trial cart the same one that just showed up on ebay just recently. Very nice if you grabbed it. I wanted to get it, but unfortunately I was a little tight on money at the moment.

From what I understand the Dash Demo/Beta is exactly the same as the disc that was given out to the CFC, its identical to the one on Protodudes site. Got lucky when I bought that, only cost me 260 yen!

The original Power Battle PCB cost me about £70 which seems to be about the going rate (£50-£70 on eBay).
Power Fighters I think cost me slightly more (around £90-£120). I paid over the odds on that one at the time I think as it can be gotten for around £70 also if you look around. That was an impulse buy! (worth it though, game is amazing)
The Rockman 3 Playchoice 10 PCB cost me £50, but as these can only be played on an actual PC10 arcade cab I had to pick up the cab as well (which as luck would have it only cost me £50!) Its essentially the same as the Nes version though so there's really no need to grab it other than for the sake of completion.

The B&F Trial Cart I picked up earlier in the year from Yahoo Japan. Its the same as the one that appeared on eBay though, first scenario of both games etc. Its a great little collectable for my collection  :)

Rockman Series / Re: Megaman Doujin Game

Sorry I didn't see this thread sooner (I'm Shadowman, the person who took the photo in the first post).

I did try to take some movies of each level but my PC struggled to record anything that would be deamed as watchable but there is a full walkthrough on NikoNiko (You need an account to watch them though): http://www.nicovideo.jp/search/rockmen+r

Its a really fun doujin game, better than most of the Rom Hacks of Megaman 2 and such I've played. The game feels like a compilation of bits taken from the original Rockman series featuring enemies and stage designs reminisent to the earlier games (especially the Nes games). For example, Lazer Mans level is a cross between Star Mans stage (with enemies and low gravity) and Quick Mans stage (Damned instant kill lasers  ;^;)
Boss fights are hit and miss though, some are pretty fun (like Lazer Man and Puppet Man) and others are to easy (Rapid Man).

The fortress levels can get a bit manic as well, a couple of bits in Fortress stage 2 and 3 require quite a bit of trial and error before finally managing to complete them, nothing that ruins the game but a couple of bits that come close to spoiling the fun. The Fortress levels do have the bonus of having you face off against bosses from previous games:

Fortress Boss 1 - Cutman

The mid boss of Fortress Stage 2 - Forte

Fortress Boss 2 - Heatman

Fortress Boss 3 - Airman

Fortress Boss 4 - Rockman

And of course - Wily in his capsule.

All the bosses fight like they do in their respective games (Forte fights like his Wily Stage 1 fight in Rockman 7). Megaman is closest to the Rockman? battle in Rockman Rockman. Wily fights like a much simplified version of his Rockman 7 capsule battle.

The other thing I really liked about this game was the music, all the stage tunes sound really nice and there is even a great remix of Rockman 2's Wily stage 1 theme for Fortress stage 1.

Hell, are there any good scans of the front cover or manual? I'm liking what little I can see of the RMs. /will look into this tomorrow

I could try and get better pictures of the front/back of the case + disc but my camera isn't great. The game didn't actually come with a manual which was slightly disapointing.
