Rockman Series / Re: MM Art Request thread.

Does anyone happen to have a higher resolution copy of this (if it exists):

I just recently bought a Power Battle board and Marquee and a cabinet to put it in. I like side art, but as far as I know neither power battle or power fighters has official side art. I thought having this plus the game's logo would look pretty awesome.

Not odd at all, but I can't completely help. I have mediocre quality of the PSX versions for front and back, but only decent fronts for Famicom versions:
*snip*

Thanks a lot for these. He has the carts, but no boxes, so he wants to make something so he can use some spare NAMCOT cases he has. These are much better quality than anything else we've found so hopefully it'll work out. ;)

Odd request, but a friend of mine is looking for front and back scans of the 6 Rockman games on the famicom. Does anybody have these or know where they can be obtained. Thanks for any help!

From my experience with DreamTR he is very nice and many people say he typically has fair prices. Which is definitely true for his disc based games. The X6 proto was bought for only $50, which I feel if anyone had checked the contents, it probably would have gone for more. I think cartridge games in general tend to be higher due to the fact there is a bit more work into preserving them and then the cost of dumping them is higher compared to a CD that can be popped into any computer.

As for the thing on hoarders, I used to hate them, but then I changed my mind a few years ago. The bottom line is nobody deserves the data, and technically nobody should have it. If something gets released I say be grateful for that. If a person pays money for (usually) stolen property they can do whatever they want with it.

That IS me  :P  ;)
Oh, and that's how I heard the unused track I mentioned about in the video. That should have told me there were more stages  :-[

I'd actually like to change my youtube name. I've heard it's possible (unofficially) but I'm not sure.  :\ Anyone know of a way?

Anyone want to pitch in to buy any of the following betas?  o-O

NES-
Mega Man 2
Mega Man 3
Mega Man 4
Mega Man 5

SNES-
Mega Man 7
Mega Man Soccer (early, no gameplay)
Rockman X3 (early version, says Sample on the title screen)

Game Gear-
Mega Man

Game Boy
Rockman World (in English with NOA info on title screen)
Mega Man II
Mega Man III
Mega Man V

GBA-
Mega Man Battle Network 2 (debug version)

I believe it's $3000 for all of them (that is a lot) or maybe just pitch in to get the  Rockman X3 sample cart. Doesn't matter to me who gets to keep the cart cuz I'm not going to buy another Super Famicom/Nintendo to play it.  The rom will suffice for me.  XD Too bad there's no detail next to the other betas to note differences.  :(

I know who you're talking about with these protos, he's the one I got the X6 Proto from. Nobody would be getting any carts (unless he changed his mind). He just wants the money to dump and release them.
Did he really come down to $3000 to release them all? Originally he had these prices listed:

NES
Mega Man 2 - $850
Mega Man 3 - $700
Mega Man 4 - $750
Mega Man 5 - $750

SNES
Mega Man 7 - $750
Mega Man Soccer (early, no gameplay) - $250
Rockman X3 (early version, says Sample on the title screen) - $1000

Game Gear
Mega Man - $750

Game Boy
Rockman World (in English with NOA info on title screen) - $750
Mega Man II - $750
Mega Man III - ? -wasn't on his 2009 list
Mega Man V - ? -wasn't on his 2009 list

GBA
Mega Man Battle Network 2 (debug version) - $400

For all of that it came to nearly $8000. If he has come down that much I'd definitely be more interested in working with a fundraiser to get them dumped. Even if we didn't reach a goal of $3000 I'm sure we could get some of them dumped.

Nothing major, but kind of humorous. =P

Pretty lame that Capcom made the game so easy with the super jump at the show. Makes sense now why it ended up in the final game I guess.

Just happened to stumble on this 10 hours before the auction ended. It sat at 99 cents all day and with 2 minutes left someone tried to challenge me. I set my maximum bid at $22.67 with 5 seconds left, and it ended at $22.50!  >0<

News and Announcements / Re: Keiji Inafune leaves Capcom
« on: October 29, 2010, 08:02:38 PM »
It'll be alright. See signature.

couldn't be put any better. Not to mention Inafune hasn't had much involvement with his projects for quite some time now. My guess is that Dead Rising 1 was the last project he actually got to work the most on. Sad to see him go, but I'm not worried about Mega Man or Capcom. They're not SEGA. =P

Just out of curiousity does anyone know if a higher resolution image of the rocket has surfaced. I'm curious what the text says (assuming it's not just gibberish for the artwork). This is the largest image on the Japan Devroom:

Sorry for the late response, college work has been so much lately and a bit of family issue..

I actually did not get to buy them, but I am in contact with the person who did buy them trying to get them dumped. The person uploaded a copy of the PS2 prototype for Command Mission, but it did not play in any emulators for me so I didn't know if it was a bad dump or upload or what. The person did say it was the E3 demo though.

As for the Gamecube NR disc we're still trying to figure that out. I sent an email about the PS2 demo not working and a possible way to dump the Gamecube NR disc, but haven't heard back and that was nearly 2 weeks ago if I recall. If anybody on here knows a surefire method to dump Gamecube NR discs that would be awesome though!

I just wanted to update on the status of these. We got the Gamecube NR disc ripped and unfortunately it's just a reviewable copy so it's essentially exactly the same as the final. (So no beta maps or combat system  :() Considering it is pretty much the final game I don't think the staff would like it too much if I were to release that on here. If someone says otherwise I'll upload it and you can examine for yourselves, but I don't believe there are any differences.

As for the PS2 E3 demo it's getting re-ripped so hopefully I'll have that soon to examine and share!

Now to give credit where credit is due. All of the Command Mission stuff is all thanks to a member that reads and submits info to Protodude's blog Alkaid (aka Ralene). Ralene paid for the two Command Mission prototypes when I was unable to, to make sure they got dumped and the information was given to the community. I'm thankful to Ralene that contact has been kept this whole process to make sure the discs are dumped properly and that we can get them preserved and unleash any findings in the games.

DeGamer - I'm really curious what items you have since I didn't think the X7 trial disc was public. I knew a collector bought one a while back, but didn't release anything. Anything you're able to provide and/or release would be great!

Wonder what that thing was at the very ending of the video.

It's the back side of the island shown at the very start of the video. If you pause it immediately after starting you can see the blue/green gear from the front.

12
The little video they showed at NYCC finally got leaked out and has some interesting goodies!

A city! Looks interesting, obviously still early in development though.

Servbot model, looks like it's pretty good quality compared to the PS1 games.

and our first reaverbot! From the looks it kind of looks like the first boss from the first game.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VFSQHXlpjtw  - the six second video

I get the feeling this game is going to have tons of stuff revealed and several changes due to fan input so I've been documenting every image and every video that is released to see for changes once it's released. I love looking back on the development for the first two games and I'm excited that I'm able to follow this ones. I also plan on releasing the whole package once the game is released too.

13
There's a few interesting ones, it's hard to choose, but at least I've got some time.

What I'm really interested in is that video they showed during the event. Was anyone able to record it or will it be posted online soon?

14
Out of curiosity, Skaarg, did anything become of the other betas/prototypes? Did you ever buy them?

Sorry for the late response, college work has been so much lately and a bit of family issue..

Rockman Series / Re: Megaman Megamix 2...
« on: September 23, 2010, 06:38:16 AM »
Why not just go to a comic book store and buy it, like I did?  8D

I tried that and went to go pick it up when I got a call that it was in. Instead what they had waiting for me was ZX 2 which I hadn't even preordered because I still need to buy ZX1... So I am still Megamix 2-less.

16
An interesting thing is the midbosses in Blaze Heatnix stage. They don't shoot projectiles out and the flames that rise up during one boss are a red/orange color. Which is weird since the real early screenshots show blue-ish flames and the final has purple.

Edit - More stuff!

If this area wasn't annoying already they had to have a misplaced tile. =P

Umm now what? This was a bit of a level breaker here. I'm assuming the changes are because it's a nightmare stage (I honestly can say I haven't played X6 all the way through many times so my mind is fuzzy). It's impossible to get past this point unfortunately. It is taking a very long time to kill myself...

Edit2- Finally got to fight "Nightmare" Zero. As already mentioned he's his normal color, but there's another oddity. If you don't jump at all when he does his ground smash move the screen will move up. If you keep letting him do this without jumping you'll be near the top of the screen.

Interesting...

Cool post

Glad someone is able to do videos. For some reason epsxe isn't working right with ubuntu on my desktop, and my laptop is a little netbook so it can't do the emulator and video at the same time. =P

Now that I have a new dvd drive I'm going to fix windows on my desktop so I can record videos too.
Also thanks for the mirror.

18
And it is dumped! I did a 1:1 rip to bin/toc and converted the toc to cue for easier use.

Megaupload Download: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=7GG06WJ4

If someone has a better mirror or host feel free to spread around!

Some more images from an emulator (sorry I forgot to trim them <_<):

Trying to access memory card from title screen...

Now do you see where I thought it said X5 for a second? =P

Nice Sketch!

Parts Screen sketches..

I save no one! (You can rescue them though.)

Hey X you're going the wrong way and attacking the air...

By the way there's no armor or hearts...

19
It will be dumped tonight. The only working cd drive I have has a lot of read problems so I wouldn't trust it with making a rip. A friend of mine is coming over tonight and with his computer so I can rip it. Maybe don't expect an upload till tomorrow though it is my 21st birthday so I have to have some fun! ;)

Then we can finally really start digging into this to see what beta stuff there is.

Also I let the demo play once and X is retarded as hell!  8D

Flame- to answer your question they are the same to figures on both sides (just mirrored). The figure closer to the middle appears to be the falcon armor and the other appears to be the blade armor(I think?).

Well I have some good news in a world where proto findings aren't very common. Some of you may have heard of DreamTR before, but anyways he is a well known person in the world of prototype sales. Anyways I'm going to be purchasing a Mega Man X6 proto. No clue how early or late it is. I just know it's not a retail disc, but I will be dumping it as soon as it arrives.

He also has a proto for Mega Man Anniversary Collection (PS2) that was marked March of 2004 (3 months before release) and previewable disc of Command Mission for PS2 and a NR Reader disc for the game cube version. Again no clue on how early or late those are (minus the Anniv. Col. disc), but unfortunately I just had a ~$400 car repair, and I don't have the money for all four discs. They're all roughly $50/piece and my b-day is this friday so hopefully I'll get some birthday cards in the mail from family that will help my proto buying. =)

Here's to hoping there is anything interesting on the disc, but don't get your hopes too far up. It's most likely close to final, but might have leftovers like test levels and crap.

Posted on: August 17, 2010, 07:33:38
Got it in the mail today. On the disc is written 9-28-01 so it's 2 months prior to the jap release. Doing a quick start the main difference is they don't have the Rockman X6 load screen implemented yet it still says Rockman X5, but the colors are really messed up. EDIT- Actually it does say Rockman X6 the colors are just so off it looks like a 5.

I don't have a working cd-rom drive at the moment so I have to wait to be able to use my friends laptop so I can dump it. Expect a dump shortly though! =)

oh another "major" finding. The Title screen text is Yellow instead of white. =P

the load screens and options screens are incomplete. They only take up about 2/3 of the screen horizontally.

In game I tried accessing the controller setup screen. Can you say [tornado fang]'d up?

No diamond here for the boss icon..

WHAT?!?!

Sure it was done by Hi Tech, but I'm surprised these hadn't been thrown in here yet...

Rockman Series / Re: What was the first Megaman game you played?
« on: July 02, 2010, 08:53:48 PM »
Mega Man 4 was my first Mega Man game and possibly even my first video game. My grandma had a nintendo with four games. SMB w/ Duck Hunt, SMB3, Contra, and Mega Man 4. MM4 and Contra were my favorites to play, and I even figured out that bosses had weaknesses and their order when I was like 4 or 5. I was actually surprisingly decent at Mega Man games even at a young age. When I was little I'd normally be able to play up until the first or second Wily Castle stage before it'd get too hard for me.

I remember my excitement when I found the wire upgrade by chance. I didn't even know about the balloon upgrade for a few years.

Well I got to looking at the two videos Protodude posted on his blog earlier and noticed there are no download links for either of those so I figured I'd try and fix this, by making my own version to share.

So this took about 20 minutes of work, but I think it looks decent. Hope you enjoy and feel free to improve upon and share!

Any other Mega Man themed characters you guys have would be awesome to download and try out!

Edit - I actually decided to do a quick edit to make a Protoman character and I'll possibly upload that later tonight when I get home. Waving cape when walking included. =P

Wasn't this control scheme in that Capcom Friendly Club demo as well? I recall holding down the L2 and pressed the Right/Left directional button to do a turn.

Pretty uncomfortable control scheme really.
That's the demo I'm referring to. =P The info I gave may not be new, but from what I've seen it hasn't been documented anywhere.

I have spring break coming up soon so I want to see if I can dig into any of the files some to find any more leftovers. It seems a lot of the documentation online is only comparing gameplay and graphical differences. There may be leftover things such as textures or sound clips not used in the demo or final. I'm also curious if any special weapons are in the demo in some form considering they are mentioned in the ROCK_NEO.exe. Problem is I haven't had much experience with many of the stuff here. So it's like a 1000 piece puzzle and it's one solid color.

25
Since I recently received my Rockman DASH CFC Demo disc I've been trying to find if there is anything left over in it. Going through ROCK_NEO.exe turned up the following things:

Beginning at Offset 0005A440 It lists out the directories and files used to compile this demo.
E:\PSX\ROCK_NEO\EXE\LOGO.EXE....................................E:\PSX\ROCK_NEO\EXE\ZNULL.DAT
Neither of these files are on the CD though. Probably not worth much though judging by their names.

Next interesting item appears around offset 0005D7A0
ðò...... NORMAL......¨.. BUSTER......¸.. M_GUN.......È.. SHOT........Ø.. DRILL.......è.. BOMB........ø.. SPREAD......... VACUUM.....................................F... NORMAL.....F¨.. BUSTER.............¾... HELMET.....¾¨.. HAIR...............F@.. ON.........FP.. OFF.........@.. TYPE A......P.. TYPE B.....¾@.. SMALL......¾P.. BIG....

Looks like we have a weapon list for the first part:
Normal - obviously when you can't use your buster
Buster - obvious =P
M_GUN - Machine gun
SHOT - ?? A different name for the Powered Buster possibly?
Drill - Drill Arm
Bomb - Splash Mine most likely
Then SPREAD and VACUUM are obvious.

Next bit that's interesting is the Helmet text, I'm curious if there is some way to turn on Mega Man's helmet since from earlier videos he started out with the helmet.
They Type A, Type B is most likely just the control choices
No clue what SMALL/BIG are though.

Possibly later on tonight I was going to try changing the On to Off or the Off to On to see if it has any results with gameplay.

Has anyone found anything else going through any of the files?

I just wanted to note changing the ON and OFF text that showed up seemed to have no effect at all on gameplay. I did learn one interesting thing though today I hadn't seen mentioned on here before and it's not mentioned on the control layout before starting the beta. Press L2+L1 or R1 and you will do a 90 degree turn. Looks like this was removed from the final in favor of the 180 degree turn using down+O.
