Here's a suggestion that some may view as "out there". Some may view as ridiculous. Some may view as blasphemy.

What if....

...there were more than eight primary robot masters...?

Lookin' good, lookin' good.

If I may make a suggestion. I feel this would be the perfect opportunity to actually make Tango more prominent. Maybe he could have some assists besides dishing out damage.

To expand on this, maybe Rush and Tango could both have two assists, and both of Rush's work off of his own single gauge, while Tango's work off of his own? This is a bit wilder than what I just suggested above, so I get if this would be overlooked. It is a bit complicated. Think it's a pretty nifty idea though.

but why would it have to be like that? X3 didnt do that, and the Ride armor system here seems pretty much just like X3's.
For one thing, X3's ride armor system was a bit flawed in that you'd pretty much never use certain ride armors once you got the best one for you. The other problem was that it was a bit underutilized, as I feel there weren't enough opportunities to utilize them.

It seems JKB is making ride armor spawners somewhat more abundant. So the balance to getting to use them more often is by having higher risk to taking them out and having them get trashed. And obviously, you'll then be forced to switch up what ride armor you're gonna use next time you're at spawner. This solves both aforementioned flaws.

However this is just my viewpoint. Maybe JKB's got different reasons.

I have a Ride Armor room but to make it cost is too much work for the player that's not something I want the player to be concerned with.
I feel that it ought to be costly to have them destroyed, as in you won't be using it very soon after it breaks, but also not be annoying. That is, the game won't eat up your time and force you to stop making progress.

Would that be close to what we can expect?

Very catchy tune. Reminds me of Kirby, sort of. But nice job with it anyway. Can't wait to hear more

So Strike is the rival character of this game, like Vile or Dynamo?

LOL... touche!

Truth be told, I have a number of things I'm doing. I have work, though it's only 3 hours at night, and I've been working on a few fanfiction stories and my latest chapter was 19k+ words so I'm taking a break for a bit, but the major time-eating part of my life are the video games I get.

I have Final Fantasy XIII-2, Soul Calibur 5, White Knight Chronicles 2, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, Soul Nomad, and soon to have Tales of the Abyss 3DS, BlazBlue: CS Extended, Hakuoki: Demon of the Fleeting Blossom to play and finish some I'm very tied up.

Though during my spare time I like improving my drawing and spriting skills so I'll be prepare making artwork for my games. I do have a few documents written down on certain game projects I have in mind, to characters and their stats, equipment, gameplay styles, the enemies, some story plot ideas, etc... I just don't post them on the net because I'm a little paranoid someone might steal the idea from me.

I did make a simple Flash game a while back by following a tutorial.

Though I was wondering which tips to utilize to avoid making major headache when starting to make a platformer game, such as Mega Man X. Well I guess I'll write down some stuff... I already have the idea, but I tend to forget stuff.

Dude I don't mean to sound rude but you didn't have to spill your life story

I prefer multiple difficulty settings also for the fact that it adds replay. I really like beating normal mode then going through, more experienced, on hard. Also, fluctuation of difficulty, while rewarding, could also come off as punishment for doing well to some players.

Still though, this is a concept that has been executed pretty well. God Hand, anyone? Even in that though, it can get frustrating, the game getting harder because I do well.

All this aside, this project is looking badass. And whatever you choose, the game'll still be rad.

Defense Bonus same thing as Damage Reduction.

I don't see Defense Bonus for any of the body armor descriptions. So does that mean none of them reduce damage like, say X1's armor? (aside from the HArmor's contact damage reduc) I'm just curious.

Do the body armors also give the damage reduction like they do in other X games? Or do they simply give the specific upgrades you just mentioned?

So is there any chance that we will find some kind of big ass monitor in the hunter base where we can look up on the Maveric-bios?
Ooh! Yeah that would be cool! Like, a screen showing the bosses like the other games, and them blacking out or something when they've been defeated.

I wouldn't be surprised if you'd already thought of that.

I thought the normal rank desperation move was fine. But I had the feeling that the S rank desperation move would be a lot scarier. Like, the explosions would be five fires instead of three. I don't know if that would make them too hard to dodge though. If that wouldn't work, maybe they could fall faster?

I just love when an advanced version of a boss pulls out moves you're unfamiliar with, so that you once again get a sense of hurried desperation to understand how to avoid the attack.

Either way, really cool stuff, man. I adore thinking up boss patterns. I use to always draw them out in my notebooks. So seeing this done right is awesome. I think this really works and has a very X series feel to it. You can make unique attacks without having to resort to simple bullet hell. I agree, as referenced above, that bullet hell really isn't always a good thing, as X seems (at least in most boss fights) to be more about quick wits and thinking of the best maneuver you can do to escape each tense attack. I think this captures that pretty well.

Thanks for the response.

Yeah that makes perfect sense. I can't imagine Ken's battle being much different than Ryu's. That would suck. Alright then.

I would like to see Guile in the game in some capacity. I mean, he's my man. But yeah, just two moves. Pretty stale.

So another question. Will he have items/rush abilities, or something like that?

This looks pretty radical. But I have a question. Why did you choose not to have the 8 world warriors as the bosses? It seems so perfect for Mega Man. The 8 main fighters being the 8 robot masters, then the three boss characters (and maybe something else for a fourth end stage) would be perfect.

Regardless, this looks awesome. I'll play it regardless.

I'd donate. Definitely. ...But yeah, I'm not sure if that would even be legal.

I'm surprised there aren't more artists out there who would make the sprites just to get their art out and to support such an awesome project.

There are extra-lives hard-placed throughout the areas. And automatic checkpoints are still enabled for example on pre-boss rooms.
Ah I see! So lives are really hard to come by, making them extremely precious and heart-rending to lose. Neat neat.

Hello. Like many have said before, I've been following this a while and just now decided to join.

Before all else, I'd just like to say that I love what you're doing here, JKB. The first 3 X games are like the closest games to my heart, and metroidvania is like my favorite type of gameplay style, so I'm very happy about all this. Looks awesome. Sounds awesome. Can't wait to play it.

You seem very dedicated to avoiding the problem of many multiple character games, where you'll usually just focus on one. So kudos. Also, the harder difficulties really excite me. The whole no health drops thing is REALLY cool. I feel too many games don't really punish you for your mistakes, but with this every mistake will count! Awesome!

So on that note, I noticed you saying there will be no checkpoints and no extra life refills at Save Capsules in S+.

So are there even lives in S+? Because without checkpoints, they're pretty much pointless. That would be fine. I'm just curious.
