« on: May 17, 2010, 05:26:11 PM »Rosenkreuzstilette is to me one of the best Mega Man-clones because it was actually fun to play, unlike Megamari where it makes you want to throw the controller at the monitor in frustration. Very good storyline, and it really sticks to the old NES Mega Man gameplay that fans know and love.
... The hell? MegaMari isn't that hard. Yeah, the swarms of enemies and bullets may seem overwhelming, but it's all very manageable. You just have to take your time progressing through the levels. I'm not going to comment on RKZ other than; I really, really hate the animu look of the game. Also, lol @ story in doujin game.

Continuum Shift is looking pretty good so far. Though there is still some really stupid [parasitic bomb]. Luckily, it's not as brain dead as it was in Calamity Trigger. Hopefully. I want to play Tsubaki, because she's one of the few good character designs in this animu fighter, but I hear she's a RTSD character... Which will clash heavily with my turtling style of game play.

No bloody exceptions; this game is awesome all around. Great music, weapons, stage layouts, bosses, story, atmosphere, mechanics, difficulty; everything is PERFECT.
I agree with everything you said there but story. The story should just be ignored. >_>

The 16-bit era was the high point in the Castlevania series IMO. The only game I didn't like was Super Castlevania IV. The super friendly controls trivialized everything that previously made Castlevania challenging. Plus, the music was rather mediocre. It especially makes me bitter that most people overlooked Castlevania Chronicles, even though (or perhaps because) it was truer to the original.

Mega Man 8. I literally love everything people hate about this game. The voice acting? reminds me of when I when I used to watch Saturday morning cartoons. The jetboard sections? they're a thrill! Too easy? Only the boring get bored~ Weak soundtrack? I loved the instrumentation!

Shinki from Touhou 5: Mystic Square. This is like, the only time in a video game where I got an adrenaline rush from fighting an AI (Especially on my 1cc attempts). The aftermath of her attack, where Makai is left in flames is so freaking epic. Not to mention, the aforementioned attack has such a pretty pattern.

Mega Man Battle Network 3. Used to love the BN series and played all but the 1st and 5th on my GBA, but now I can't stand them. Still love the character designs though.

I don't blame anyone for overlooking this considering it only plays on the complete works version of Mega Man 5, but seriously... The staff roll theme has got to be the most beautiful song in all of Mega Man.
