You know all the Japanese subtitles for the Rockman games and other merchandise.
When they're translated, they suddenly have different meanings, depending on the translator's own personal view.

It would help the whole community (not just RPM), if we can just stick with one title for each game.
No troll posts or "lol RPM sux" or whatever. Just choose the title that sounds the best and help out for once!

I'll post the ones that I've collected and you will decide which one that sounds the best.
If you want to be creative and mix the translated words differently to sound more original, be my guest. ^^

First is the Japanese title, then the romanized title, and then a list of different English titles. Rettsu Go!!!

Gaming / The Soul Edge/Blade/Calibur Thread
« on: April 17, 2009, 10:18:25 PM »
I didn't see it anywhere, so please post in here~

The Games:
- Soul Edge / Soul Blade (Arcade, Playstation) 1996-1997
- Soul Calibur (Arcade, Dreamcast, Xbox Live Arcade) 1998-1999, 2008
- Soul Calibur II (Arcade, Gamecube, Playstation 2, Xbox) 2002-2003
- Soul Calibur III (Arcade, Playstation 2) 2005
- Soul Calibur IV (Playstation 3, Xbox 360) 2008
- Soul Calibur Legends (Nintendo Wii) 2007-2008
- Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny (Playstation Portable) 2009
- Soul Calibur V (Playstation 3, Xbox 360) 2012

If you want to learn some detailed and very adorably funny things about Soul Calibur IV, you should read this comic~

What do you think of this comic? And what do you like about the games in general?

In the games that I played at least, I love the world-traveling mode where you beat opponents in different ways and unlock new things that way. And I also like the Character Creation mode in the last few games (especially the fourth Calibur game). PB has been so kind enough to make a lot of characters for many of us RPM members, and that made me love Soul Calibur IV more and more.

I love the whole series, and the first 3 games (Edge, Calibur 1 and 2) are the games I still play since I have access to those games and the consoles they were released for.

Our prayers are finally answered: X9 is coming!!

... Well, how should we put it... our anonymous tipster fooled us. Way to go.

Thanks to you, the news got spread to these places:
Capcom Unity
Gamercafe (Chile)
MDRockman (Brazil)
Mega Man X9 Community
N-Philes
Rockman Network (Thailand)
Sonic Retro
Spriters Resource
Sprites INC
The Mega Mario Network

The tipster apologized and she sent us these messages from other authors.
* RMC at GoNintendo.com: "I'm pretty sure it's an April Fools' joke, but I'll keep my eyes open for more details..."
* Jeff at MegaManX9.com: "Hate to break it to you, but RPM does this every year for April Fool's day. Trust me I'd love it too!"

Maybe there was a reason behind this prank?

Quote from: 1UP Interview with MM9 producer Hironobu Takeshita
http://www.1up.com/do/feature?pager.offset=0&cId=3172027

1UP: "Will we ever be lucky enough to get a Mega Man X9 -- but with Super NES era graphics and music?"
HT: "It all depends on fans' demand! We might see that day, as long as there is passion!"

Oh well, guess we'll never know. The important thing is that everyone who commented had some good manners for once.

Gaming / Sheik is not Zelda!!

Remember the thoughtful efforts of our affiliates MegaManX9.com that would hint Capcom to make a sequel to the X series? It looks like it finally paid off!! Due to the success of Rockman 9, a new X series game is coming out... in Super Famicom (SNES) style! o.o

An anonymous tipster sent us an e-mail, hinting that a couple of screenshots was recently uploaded to a Capcom Press folder. Hard to believe, but the quality was so surreal and so amazing, we were at loss for words.

"I believe I can fly, I believe I can touch the sky..."

"Hidden treasure? Neat, I better take a look arOUND."

"Ugh, these platforms... Hey, I better not be facing some Spike Raptor boss in here...!"

We were also told, that the theme of the game, and the title, is focusing on the continued removal of old-generation repliroids. The title that was given to us was "Rockman X9: Repuriroido no Shimetsu!", which means "Repliroid Extinction!".

It puts us at the point where Rockman X8 ended with a mysterious shiny piece being infested on Axl's head circuits. Closing in on the year 22XX, after Axl's recovery, new threats started to arise, where the reproduction of copy chips are showing up at a tremendous rate, and thus being able to breed new generation repliroids to replace the old. Can X, Zero and Axl find out who's behind this and stop any irregular crimes in the process?

Some features that would show up is a Database showing off all the characters and bosses that has shown up in the X series so far, along with a Time Attack mode to show off your records on leaderboards.

And it's been mentioned that Life Ups, Sub Tanks and Capsule upgrades are coming back in their original form, without having to buy them from some kind of shop feature.

DLC has been mentioned as well. What they were exactly is yet unknown, but we hope it's the same treatments as Rockman 9 or something more surprising.

The game is rumored to come out on PlayStation Network, X-Box Live Arcade and Wii Ware. The release date and price wasn't mentioned, but we hope it will be ready before the big anniversary.

We'll keep in touch if more information shows up.
More information showed up!

Rockman Series / Cellphone Games

...and stuff. ^^

Reviving this RPM post from a while ago.

Mega Man 1

Someone screwed up in the Music department. >U<
Only Cut Man's stage is correct.

Music Tracks:
Guts Man stage: Fire Man track
Fire Man stage: Guts Man track
Elec Man stage: Ice Man track
Ice Man stage: Bomb Man track
Bomb Man stage: Elec Man track

The cellphone doesn't seem to handle multiple presses on the buttons, so you have to decide when to shoot, jump or walk, and that can be very frustrating. ^^

Game beaten! Stage Order: Elec, Ice, Fire, Bomb, Guts, Cut.
Score Attack: 593,800 points

Weapon Descriptions (as said in the game):
Mega Buster
Plasma Bullets
Single Shot
Rolling Cutter
Scissor Blade
Cuts like a knife
Super Arm
Throws a block
Splits into pieces
Ice Slasher
Ice arrowhead
flies forward
Hyper Bomb
Tosses a bomb
Timed explosion
Fire Storm
Fire surrounds you
Plus blast of fire
Thunder Beam
Electric thread
Front, top & bottom

The ending text is exactly the same as the original game, but printed on a complete black screen.
There's no Mega Man running home or Dr. Light and Roll waiting for him either.
And all you get is a Congratulations sign. The end text is translated in different languages too. o.o

The last stage is just a Boss Attack stage, where you meet all bosses one by one, and you only get recovery items after you beat the Robot Masters. They pop up in Robot Number order (Cut, Guts, Ice, Bomb, Fire, Elec).

We should discuss the other games too. ^^

It's not Kid Icarus Wii, but close enough.

The mysterious winged girl Nyx drops down from the heavens to find her missing friend Icarus.

Zeus and other gods of Olympus will help you through the obstacles of the game by summoning their powers, like being able to cast rays, change the scenery and control the wind. You can accomplish these tasks with your own wrist movements and other Wii Remote techniques.

The game also allows 2 player co-operation.

Color me interested. >U<

I didn't know where to put this...

Battle & Fighters demo lets you fight against 2 bosses before the Game Over shows up. You can only select the first scenarios on both games, while the others are gray and locked out. The release date shows up after playing.

Some other games we could talk about would be:

* Rockman DASH promo discs (Rockman NEO (1) (2) and Rockman DASH 2 episode 1)
* Rockman 7 Sample (Click MegaMan 7)
* Rockman 8 Beta (with the old Frost Man stage music)
* Rockman X1 Beta
* Mega Man X7 E3 Special Edition (X playable on Intro Stage)
* Rockman Scramble Battle? (lol)
* Mega Man Mania? (eh, why not)
* Rockman EXE Transmission Beta, with the different camera view in boss fights.
* Rockman EXE 5 DS Twin Leaders Prototype (with lots of 3D elements, like characters and maps)
* Mega Man 4 Beta (EGM Magazine)
* Rockman World 1 Proto

And more things like that. Just fill up the list. ^^

Lets talk about them all.

DASH / Nino Ruins: The slow lag nightmare is finally over~
« on: March 14, 2009, 07:30:40 PM »
But first, a history lesson...

Quote from: Vixy
Looks like Nino Ruins was just a hardware issue after all. The frame rate you got befriended with in the rest of the game is now perfectly implemented in Nino Ruins. No more slowness (besides the underwater thing, but it's still speeded-up a bit).

Quote from: Vixy (July 19, 2007 - "DASH 1 & 2 on the PSP the same?")
Quote from: Sonic Tengu Man
Straight, poorly done ports.

I say they are slightly improved ports.

Secondly, since the hardware of the PSP is "slightly" higher in specs than the PS1, the Nino Ruins underwater segments are NOT slow whatsoever. It means that the dungeon is endurable now (yay).

Also, underwater dungeons in DASH 2/Legends 2 plays better on PSP because of the hardware it was ported on, since the PS1 version makes those dungeons run slowly. >.>

Thanks to the hardware of the PSP, a port from PS1 to PSP makes many elements load and play better than intended. When you run around in the slow underwater dungeons in the second game (especially Nino Ruins), with the added processing power of the PSP, the frame rate and the overall aspects of the underwater ruins runs wonderfully well, while on the PS version, everything moved way too slow. I will try and show a demonstration of this on actual hardware.

Now it can be finally proven, with videos I recorded just a while ago~

But first, let's go back down memory lane, to the first Playstation:

- And they said: "This is not David Hasselhoff."

- I said, "Do you have one game, in the back, that you've held?"

- They said, "We do."

- [I said] "Hold that game. I will be over in 30 minutes." I jumped in my car and drove over.

- The guy goes: "Are you kidding me? Are you freaking kidding me? Knight Rider! Dude!" And then, forget it, any game I wanted. I got the Wii game.

A chat with PB about the game...

Quote
Vixy: Is OK ^^ say have you played or heard about Retro Game Challenge for the DS yet?

PB: Yeah, I've heard about it.  I want it

Vixy: I already beat it and the Japanese one before it. To beat the game, you have to beat all the games inside it. See, you feel like you are a kid again. You are dragged into the 80's, turned into a kid and you have to beat challenges created by Game Master Arino. What I like about the game is that you actually get to experience the 80's just like you did when you were a kid. You will be able to play a game that came out on a specific day, or read the manual for it or read a Game Fan Magazine that your friend bought, and at every release of a new game, you get new magazines and stuff. It feels good to be a gamer, and the inside jokes on the magazines is fun too. You read "fake" publishers and authors write reviews and articles for their games and stuff. ^^

PB: oh wow. You make Greg want it even more now!

Vixy: Well, it starts with an arcade shooter, so you'll definitely like it. Then you get a sidescrolling game, racing game and even a full-fledged RPG game. All of them in a 8-bit style. ^^

Vixy: The second game is coming to Japan on the 26th, and it will go further into the 80's and 90's, and will have SNES style games.

Vixy: All the games are made-up tho, they never existed before.

Vixy: thats the charm.

Vixy: Just like Pole's Big Adventure, they mock other game series, because you feel accustomed to these games, because they feel like games you played before. ^^

PB: That's fantastic

I'm playing the second game right now, this very moment~ <3
