Since I havent seen anyone note this-

Takeshi Aono, the Japanese  voice of Dr. Wily for around 15 years or so, passed away 4:38 p.m. Monday, April 9. ANN notes the cause of death as a multiple cerebral infarction after an aortic aneurysm.

Among his Megaman voice roles, is Dr. Wily ever since Mega Man 8, and Isoc in Mega Man X6.

R.I.P. he will be missed.

X / What if X was never created?
« on: February 19, 2012, 06:15:45 PM »
What if Light had simply never gotten the idea to make X?

What do you guys think? What would the future, 21XX and beyond, have been like?

Personally, that just makes me wonder more what would have become of Zero.

We never discovered it did we? That Secret S-Kill kept talking about, and how "nobody would find it"?

Everyone just sort of forgot about it.

Jerry Robinson, a pioneer in the early days of Batman comics and a key force in the creation of Robin the Boy Wonder; the Joker; Bruce Wayne’s butler, Alfred; and Two-Face, died Wednesday afternoon in New York City. He was 89.

The illustrator with a far-ranging career – after shifting in the early 1960s into political cartooning, he would serve as president of the National Cartoonists Society and then author the exhaustive and well-regarded “The Comics: An Illustrated History of Comic Strip Art” — died in his sleep during a late afternoon nap, according to Michael E. Uslan, a close family friend and an executive producer on all the Batman feature films since the 1980s.

Quote
In a statement from the family, Jens Robinson wrote of his father: "In addition to those closest to Jerry who knew him as husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law, uncle and dear friend, Jerry was adored personally and respected by so many people around the world. His comics creations, especially the first supervillain, the Joker, are cherished by many millions more. Jerry was one of the last remaining links to the Golden Age of comic books in the 1930s and 40s. Among his numerous awards and accomplishments, Jerry was most proud of his fight for creator rights, notably on behalf of his friends the Superman co-creators Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, and oppressed political cartoonists abroad. In his later career he revolutionized the way political cartoonists worldwide are distributed outside their own countries through the formation of the cartoon syndicate he founded."

Off The Wall / The DeLorean fulfils it's destiny with Electric version
« on: October 21, 2011, 04:03:47 AM »

Jalopnik gets a taste of the new Electric Delorean DMCEV that DMC plans to make for a limited run in 2013.

And by the looks of it, The car will finally have the power it always promised.

Quote
They've removed the underpowered PRV V6 guts and replaced them with a 260 hp (equivalent) electric motor. Its interior gets updated with some modern switchgear and electronics.

Quote
"Turn the key until you hear the click, then turn the center dial over to 'D'" DMC president Stephen Wynne tells me. Honestly, I'm still buzzing from the sensation of closing the stainless steel gullwing door just moments earlier. I twist the key and rotate the surprisingly weighty metal dial. Silence. I press the gas pedal, which, true to form with any 1980s exotic, has so much resistance it's more like a piece of gym equipment.  Press harder, and we silently glide forward.

Wynne and I are on a 3/8 mile oval track that I didn't know existed in Houston until about 15 minutes ago. He calls this DMCEV "version 0.9" —  a not-quite-1.0 working prototype that the company has been dreaming of for years and testing for a few months. It has some amazingly trick parts, including an integrated iPhone dock inside and a hinged grille up front that opens to reveal the charging port.

It's being developed with the fittingly-named Flux Power, a California battery systems company launched by a co-founder of Aptera. In testing around southern CA, this prototype has had a range of 70 miles "comfortably" and closer to 100 miles when driven extra efficiently.  That's Nissan Leaf territory.

So, for the low loooooow price of 90,000, you too can own an electric DeLorean.

Check out the gallery too! Theres some neat pics there.

Mega Man X4 playing cards to be exact. Odd choice no?

It appears Hot Topic, and perhaps others, will be selling officially licensed decks of Mega Man X4-themed playing cards later this Fall. Now you too can enjoy a game of poker with the likes of X the Ace, General the King, and Iris the Queen. Yes, I miss news of real Mega Man games too.

GE Animation, the folks behind a number of misc. Mega Man merchandise as of late, intend to release the cards to specialty retailers on September 15, priced at $5.99. Characters revealed thus far are X, Zero, Maverick Double, the General and Iris. Wouldn't be too surprised to see Colonel and a few Mavericks thrown into the mix.

that said, at least they look pretty nice.

What do you guys think about the show, and the [parasitic bomb] thats been going down in regards to Charlie Sheen getting booted from the show and replaced with Ashton Kutcher? (of all people... Really..?) Apparently they are going to KILL off Charlie's character. And Kutcher is going to be some millionaire or something.

IMO, the show will fail without Charlie Sheen, or just not be as big as it was.

How do you think it works? In L1 we see that large black thing with the giant eye on it's bottom float above the town from Eden. And we know that every 100 years civilization has been completely wiped out, leaving only a few scarce ruins such as the walls.

So how do you think it works? Some kind of bomb maybe? Some kind of Atom/Nuclear/Hydrogen/other mass destruction material would certainly be able to destroy the entire Island's surface.

Anyone play this game? Its based on the WoW Defense of the Ancients map for Warcraft 3, but it is it's own game., made by a comp. called Riot Games.

You fight in teams where you control a character yadda yadda, and try to destroy their nexus, a giant floaty crystal in the center of their base that spawns minions. It is guarded by turrets, and "inhibitors" which prevent the enemy nexus from making super minions. You have to destroy at least one inhibitor to damage the turrets right next to the nexus, and they respawn after a while.

Destroy the nexus, and the game ends.

You have a bunch of characters to choose from, although if you play free, you are confined to whatever characters are available for free that week. Otherwise, you can either buy Riot points, which you need much less of to unlock characters, or earn IP points through battles, saving up until you have enough to unlock the character, but it takes much longer, and much more points.

during the course of the game you try and kill as many of the enemy characters as you can, which can level you up quickly, and asist teammates and minions in destroying their [parasitic bomb].

Its a fun game.

Im still *sort of* new, (I started a while back, but stopped playing for a few months, and came back to a broken client which I had to reinstall) and have much to learn in terms of building my characters. (I sort of suck at it)

Thats another thing. you buy items to power yourself up with gold you get from killing minions or basically killing anything.

Anyone who plays and cares to add me, I go by KGMorder.

Riot also enjoys including nods to memes, pop culture and other videogames and such in their game.

so, anyone play?

A community college commencement is, for many, a celebration of second chances.

Consider Su Meck. The 45-year-old homemaker from Gaithersburg graduated Friday from Montgomery College with an associate degree in music. It’s the culmination of a life that, in most senses of the word, began at 22.

In February 1988, a ceiling fan fell on Meck’s head. The blow erased her memory, and she awoke after a week in a coma with the mental capacity of a young child. She no longer knew her husband or her two baby sons. She barely spoke and could not read or write, walk or eat, dress or drive.

“It was Su 2.0,” said Jim Meck, her husband, a systems engineer. “She had rebooted.”

Wow. I cant imagine what that must be like. For either side. Family, AND herself.

MMX5 English localizer Alyson Court, perhaps best known for her role as Resident Evil's Claire Redfield and star of The Big Comfy Couch, spent some time this evening reminiscing on her work on Mega Man X5 via Twitter, subsequently revealing the history behind the game's infamous localization:

"Apparently the localization (text editing) I did for a Capcom game is *famous*. Er, make that infamous. Who knew?"
My then husband was responsible 4 text localization. He asked me 2 do it &, since he was a GnR fan, I changed the names 2b GnR references. I didn't know the game nor did I know how mad fans wld be that Id changed the characters' names. But yrs later ppl now like it!"
"My ex-husband had his own company, GenAzea, which did localization for many Capcom games. I did a lot of that work."
"At first my hubby laughed & liked it [the GnR names]. Then when fans started complaining he got mad at me. I meant well."
credit protodude

I was expecting something a bit better than that, but hey, its cool to know either way. It almost serves as a "rub in" to the GnR song X3 ripped off.

That said, I LOVED Big Comfy couch when I was younger. Who would have thought that girl would be involved in X5's localization. Or at least, related to the guy that was. Damn, its a small world.

Deadline reported last night that the long-awaited comeback project for Schwarzenegger will be ... "The Terminator," again. Arnold's agents are out shopping a package that involve Ah-nold teaming with "Fast Five" director Justin Lin to bring the T-800 back to the big screen. They don't have a script, they don't have a target date and they don't even have a firm grasp on who owns the Terminator franchise ... but they have Arnold willing to play the part again. That's enough.

Just gonna make a topic for this.

Who on here plays?

Classic? Beta?

I had a classic server, but ever since servers broke, (consoles return no external URL, making the server impossible to connect to) I havent been able to use it.

I bought Beta a small while back though, and been playing that for a while.

Although even though making a mark for yourself in single player is neat, it CAN get tedious and or boring sometimes. Even with an inventory editor.

So, what do you do? You download adventure maps to play through.

A few good ones for ex:

He’s been a famous body builder. He’s been a killer cyborg from the future. He’s been Governor of California. And now, in this week’s exclusive cover scoop, Arnold Schwarzenegger reveals his plans for the next phase of his extraordinary career: He’s going be a cartoon superhero, known as The Governator. “When I ran for governor back in 2003 and I started hearing people talking about ‘the Governator,’ I thought the word was so cool,” Schwarzenegger, 63, tells EW in his first press interview since leaving office last January. (Watch an EW-exclusive video of Schwarzenegger talking about the project.) “The word Governator combined two worlds: the world of politics and the movie world. And [this cartoon] brings everything together. It combines the governor, the Terminator, the bodybuilding world, the True Lies…”

Off The Wall / Planters P.B. Crisps

Who remembers those? They were cookie peanuts filled with peanut butter.

I remember those things from my childhood. And every time I eat a Nutterbutter Im reminded of how much of a crappier version Nutter Butters are in comparison with that old treat, which was discontinued for God knows what reason. (listed on Wikipedia as being discontinued for "being too delicious")

I miss those P.B. crisps.

Anyone else feel the same way?

25 years after originally playing Marty McFly, Michael J. Fox has rolled up his jeans, slipped on his mirrored shades, and taken the driver's seat of Doc Brown's DeLorean once again.

It's to promote this year's Spike TV Scream Awards -- where the cast of "Back to the Future" will reunite -- Fox took part in a shot-for-shot recreation of the original teaser trailer for the movie. The video matches the original in nearly every detail, from the tongues sticking out of Fox's Nikes to the pulsating of the time machine's Flux Capacitor.

This is pretty awesome, IMO.

As a BTTF fan, I appreciate it. Thanks, Michael!

Minecraft is a game about building things that runs on your computer. One man is building a working computer inside the game that runs on his computer. At this point it's okay if your head explodes.

YouTube user TheInternetFTW is well on his way to creating a gigantic working 16-bit computer inside the confines of the popular sandbox game Minecraft. In this video he demonstrates a city-sized, fully-functional arithmetic logic unit, or ALU. The ALU is one of the fundamental building blocks of a central processing unit (CPU), responsible for performing arithmetic and logical operations.

Now that the ALU is complete, the creator plans to continue building the rest of the computer, starting with the memory. Once it's done he hopes to make the computer will run code based on the "Hack" machine described in the book The Elements of Computing Systems: Building a Modern Computer from First Principles.
