Yeah, and the SF Bay Area is more of an immigration site for the Japanese than New York is. Not to mention all the piers shown in that pic, and the big ass ships. San Francisco does have a lot of piers, and there are a lot of old ships in this area as well. Then there's the skyscrapers, and the one in the middle does look somewhat pointy to me, like the TransAmerica building in real-life SF. Also, the fact that Hiun City is on either a small island or a peninsula (and it looks man-made) is easily comparable to the fact that San Francisco is on a peninsula (which, if memory serves, is also mostly man-made). All these bring me to the conclusion that Hiun City is based off of San Francisco.
