I mean that's some consolation, and to be fair I really should get back to 999 anyways, but yeah.

No worries though.

After talking about Zero Escape, I just had a wild idea. Although I don't imagine everybody would be onboard.

How would you guys feel about an RP loosely based on 999? You wouldn't even need knowledge on the series, as the only elements from the game would be having 9 people in a building with 9 rooms.

Basically, the main idea of the RP would be having 9 people in a battle royale. And if you want a more extreme version of that, the setting could be a small city, enclosed by an impenetrable force field. The goal is to escape the city; but only one person may escape.

So, you could go outside and scavenge different weapon parts or perhaps there could be a weapons market and customize your own weapon of choice.

Anyway, that's just the basics of what just went through my head. It's a rough idea for sure, as it just popped up.

So, good or bad idea?

It's an interesting concept. I'm for it.

I wonder if I could set up a decent battle system for an RP... I have ideas rattling around in my head...

It could work, and a simple Wushu system could be used.  I think for a battle royal-type RP, dice would come in handy to keep players in check, along with some basic stats.  Far too often, have I seen at least one player with repeated problems of being overpowered, and I'm often nerfing the hell out of powerful characters.  Stats would help to maintain a balance.

Yes, suppose we have a day/night system, where we can improve a set amount of stats / gain a certain amount of parts per day, which we can explain in whatever way we want to, IE. Corey sharpened his Cobalt Blades; +1 attack. PB drank some of that mango stuff I can't remember; +1 max HP. Something like that.

what

That could also be employed like time passed, similar to DnD.  The player says that they want to do something that will take a certain amount of time, and the DM says that that amount of time had passed, and the player had achieved their goal.  This restricts downtime, as players oftentimes don't seem to know what to do during that time, from what I've gathered.

That tended to happen with Wushu.  People were fine with action sequences, but the RP fell apart once downtime came into play.  I worry that the same might happen for this.  It's an easy habit to fall into; having the DM steer the story and everyone simply submits stats.

If I do go through with this, I'll definitely need your help with setting things up, Quickie. I'm not really familiar with the Wushu/DnD style of RPing.

I can pare down the rules to as simple as I can make them, and for the sake of any players, all dice rolls should be done by either the DM (preferably) or a designated dice-roller.  This way, one person will be tasked with all the calculations, all the rolling, and no one else would have to worry about it and can focus on RPing.  Considering that I have a bag of dice, I'll no doubt be doing that. :P

DnD might prove to be too complex, but I'll go look through my various systems and see what I can dig up.  Another option would be to do a masterless system, but the only one I have on me is Dungeon Plungin', and that's more of a dungeon-crawl than anything.  I may be able to convert some of the rules, though.

Actually, I'll talk to Ringman.  He actually put together an arena-fighting/beat-'em-up system, so I'll ask him if he wrote it down anywhere.  That might work, and as I recall, it was a very simple system.  Otherwise, I'll have Wushu as a backup.

Sounds like a plan!

On the down side, you may have to wait a while before I get everything ready, because I have deadlines coming up, and I need to get some work done.

Hooray for last-minute assignments/projects!

It's amazing how every characterization of Sakura varies from RP to RP.

Wilypocalyse Sakura is probably the most standard Sakura.

Pokemon RP Sakura curses like a sailor, is somewhat aloof and a natural born leader unlike Wilypocalyse Sakura.

And Sarah is the absolute opposite of Batman, motherly, high class, naive to most middle class common norms and a massive guilt complex.

Though I still have to see how Sarah evolves compared to the other 2.

WilyRP Arche is a former villain, who is trying to make up for all his sins. Not accustomed to most forms of social entertainment and lifestyles, but slowly adapts as he meets more people.

Avengers Arche is a playboy and a pervert. 8D

Haha I need a middle ground Arche!

WilyRP DWII wants to take over RPM.

Avengers DDII wants to take over RPM City.

HoennRP DWII wants to take over Hoenn.

I'm doing things right, right? 8D

Honestly I have no idea where RPM city, Gotham or Manhatten would be in the RPM-Vengers map.

That's shaped like New York, heck I don't even know where normal Gotham is supposed to be.

EDIT: Of course it's New Jersey, I totally knew it!

Gotham is usually assumed to be in Massachusetts, mainly due to Arkham.  Lovecraft often used the setting of Arkham, Massachusetts, which also contains an asylum (Sefton Asylum), and Arkham Asylum was derived from that.

According to the Wiki it's in New Jersey.

Odd choice, there.  I generally assumed it was a New England city, due to the architecture.  And due to Arkham.

Retcon that, DC.  Return to your Lovecraftian roots.

Yeah it also apparently looks like Manhatten or something too and is close the Eastern Coast.  It also mention that the British won the American revolution there or something?

I suppose Gotham does look like Manhattan at certain areas, but I'd say it looks more like Brooklyn. At least the smaller areas of it, anyway.
