"The Morphogenetic Field is an invisible force all around us, and very few people are gifted with the ability to access it. Well, if you can even call it a gift..." Phi trailed off, "That Field allows us to send our consciousness into alternate realities, enhances our mental and physical capabilities and grants us the ability to speak to other Morphogenetic users telepathically," She said in one breath.
"Yeah, I'm still a little confused on all the details myself," Arche said dryly.
"Anyway, Arche and I have the oh-so-wonderful privilege of being one of those lucky people," She said very sarcastically.
"You don't sound very happy about it. It seems like a pretty sweet ability to have!" Kit said.
"It's more like a curse wrapped in a pretty bow. I never asked for this. I never asked to be chased down like a wild beast for being different." Phi proclaimed sternly.
"Phi, I... I didn't mean to say..." Kit tried to come up with the right words.
"No, it's alright. You live with the hand you're dealt with, right? But I won't let it define me. I will never let others tear me down ever again," She stepped up to Arche.
"If you were, by chance, chosen because of your ability, don't ever think for one moment that it's all you're worth. After all, you are a hero, right?" She exclaimed, referencing their previous conversation about Arche's reason for shedding his violent past for a bright future. She didn't believe heroes existed. She still doesn't. But, she does believe in him.
"Now, don't let this sappiness end in vain, you big dummy," Phi smiled.
"Phi..." Arche stared at her and smiled back, "Right, here goes nothing!" He nodded.
He turned around and looked at the angelic behemoth before him. He steeled himself, his gaze unwavering.
When he was but a few inches away, the mech lowered itself and opened the cockpit, inviting him in. With a deep inhale and exhale, Arche climbed inside, and the lid of the cockpit slammed shut.
