Ok. he has a sword, a grapple chain, a boomerang, and vaguely kind of looks like Link even.
It's essentially LoZ with a modern hack'nslash thing to it. Ok. GoW meets LoZ. That's fine.
Why is there portal gameplay.
At least when Lords of Shadow did it it was a stage gimmick relegated to a single area, and part of a maze type puzzle. This outright gives you a gauntlet that shoots orange and blue portals. On the bright side, it's main use is purely a gimmick to make puzzles that revolve around it in the final areas of the game, and to hide upgrades everywhere else. And you can only shoot them on very specific surfaces that are placed where you need em.
But c'mon Vigil. it wasn't really necessary...
