Is it a bad thing that I spent $10 on Sonic Adventure 2 from steam JUST so I can play in the Chao Garden again?

Not in the slightest.

In fact, it's a good reason to get it. VERY good reason.

Bcause seriously, the core gameplay is not enjoyable. It's atrocious.

Got two character sheets written up. Need to write up a few more and hammer out story details, and then get working on the campaign itself.

I personally think this deserves its own thread, by now. I think we've got more than enough of an idea to get the ball rolling. I'll be posting you some draft character sheets for the rest of the party shortly. Then we can post the topic and get some people to join with an explanation of what they're taking part in. I'll help you bang together a campaign and a few house rules to spice things up after we get our roster assembled. Then we'll play on the fly. Since its something completely new, I think its best to just jump right in and learn as we go.

Because it's instant? I think that's what they serve in IHOP and I have to use the vanilla creamer instead of half and half and sugar because it's so dang weak.

No. In my honest opinion, the core gameplay was never good.
It's just that, it's even worse now. Because it was bad back then too, but right now it's as you said. It's own age age caught up with it, making it worse.

I had shitload of fun with various different versions of SA1 (SA1, DX, International). But SA2? IT'S HORRIBLE. EACH TIME.

I mean, it's just my opinion, so feel free to disagree, but...

The Tails and Eggman levels are no fun at all. The only kick I can get out of them, is when I play as Eggman, because it's Eggman.
Treasure hunting is boring and annoying. Which is strange, because I loved the SA1 treasure hunting.

Then there's the fact that Shadow is barely in the game, even though they advertise him as the next big thing.

In general, this game is a well made example of [tornado fang]ing up on the job, and poor planning too.

The only good thing about it, as stupid as it sounds, are the Sonic and Shadow levels. And even then there's not enough of them.

The only good thing I can say about it is this:
It's better than Shadow's game... which I outright despise.

Tails was shoehorned in at the last second so his levels are pretty pointless plotwise or what have you. Both his and Eggman's are mindlessly easy (forward+hold B forever) but tend to go on way longer than Gamma's and get pretty repetitious.

The treasure hunting's biggest hindrance in SA2 is being forced to find the shards/keys in a set order. SA1 you can just wander aimlessly and be sure to pick up something on the radar.

Sonic is pretty well the same other than different control for better or worse and much better light dash with some proper implementation into levels.

you're far from alone in your opinion. in fact the general consensus of its poor aging has been particularly strong since its digital re-release, from what I've seen. I can't even remember the last time i played it myself. Not sure if I'd have much nostalgia for it either. Though one of my friends does as much as he hates to admit, thus I gifted him a Steam copy to [acid burst] him off c:

either extreme of seasonal temperature and weather in general are terrible. the only acceptable form is a low dry heat found in such areas as Calgary, Alberta during the summer. Goddamn that was one of my best vacations i just want to live there already.

the biggest piece of [parasitic bomb] in this time of year though is wind chill. that [tornado fang]er will double your negative temp and be blowing ALL THE TIME.

I love the cold myself and even if it gets too cold its easy enough to do something about it.

I just cannot stand the heat. Even a slight increase in temperature drives me crazy.

Pretty much my philosophy as well. You can put more layers on if it gets colder. If it gets too hot, you're sweatfucked no matter how little you wear.
