I find it interesting that Koyasu was actually Kenshiro in the Shin HNK OVA, and now, he's perhaps in a much more fitting role.  owob

Any way! Because you can never get enough manliness!

Whole MESS of demo play vids uploaded on KT's official YT page. WATCH EM NOW, BECAUSE YOU'RE ALREADY DEAD.

Additionally, as per Koei Warriors, a remix of the series' legendary song...(hint: YOU WA SHOCK!!!!) will be in the game.

Katsuyuki Konishi= Ken (Kamina, LIoyd(ToS), Johann Trinity)
right, choose "i lived twice as long as gai daigouji, am i cool yet?", generic hero mold #25, and RAWRKILLKILLKILL... and typo Lloyd while you're at it.

For those that care about actual good characters this guy is Volfogg, Ozma Lee, Johnathon Jostar, Grand Convoy, Captain Ginyu and Guyver 3.

Hope this has a western release. Would love to play this.

Ditto. I'm a huge HnK fan.

also, I dot know if this has been posted, but here is some gameplay clips of the various characters.

[tornado fang] yeah we get to ride Raoh's horse.

...When Larry the reploid accountant goes maverick of his own accord, he's certainly formidable during tax season, but he isn't going to provide X the challenge needed to make him grow as a warrior and reach his potential.

Oooohh... That Raoh fight was awesome. So basically, you get to fight his horse? Freaking sweet.
Toki.
The fight against Raoh himself was just chock FULL of Hokuto Shinken Ass kickin' I mean seriously, Ken was almost literally kicking Raohs ass over the place.
And then theres the fact that he's so huge that Hokuto Zankaiken hits his chest... 8D

Also, Rei playthrough was interesting. though Mamiya owned him at the end. 8D

Mamiya prolly took him to school so badly because the guy didn't believe in BLOCKING!  8D

I'm sure Mamiya can be handful, since she's long-ranged based, but the guy basically gave her free license to steamroll his ass by blocking quiver shots with his face. 8D

Actually, to add to that, near the end, was it just me, or did he get a bit cocky and invite it on himself? he just stood there in that corner. Were I him, I would move around a bit. (and block, of course)

Sure it's possible.

But does it give the series' mood a bloody face in the process? Is it worse off for it?

Not really. HnK/Fist of the North Star, as a whole, is known for its over-the-top violence factor.

Any way, I guess my only real qualms boil down to two things:
1) This is a clearly transparent thing to try and woo the "God of War" crowd in America. So, really...  8D
2) Frame-rate issues. I'm playing the JP version as I speak (pretty fun, all things considered) and the game can hiccup around 30 FPS as it is. Is Koei willing to make sure that anything that they add won't make things some how worse in this area.

well, if they are "adding more violence" then I assume they wold touchup other areas. So that it doesnt hiccup even more.

Okay, wow, holy smokes, did not know this was in the works.

Things I'm disappointed with: No Akira Kamiya for Kenshiro and no Kenji Utsumi for Raoh.

Things I'm totally freaking pumped for: Everything else.

Snap, man. I've been wanting to see HnK be reborn in glorious Next Gen and now it's finally happening. And a friggin' Dynasty Warriors/Musou system?? That's brilliant! Well, so long as it isn't as buggy as Gundam Musou 1&2.  ;)

The attention to detail is magnificent, though (IE Toki's enemies screaming "kimochi!" while dying at the hands of his Ujou-ken) and the graphics are just gorgeous...

I kinda got into nerdy fan-gasm mode for a bit, sorry. But dang this is sweet. I'm down with all the violence they deem fit to add. This is the manliest manga ever, after all.

From what I can see from some of the posts, it looks like an American release hasn't been confirmed yet, yeah? I may be mistaken, but if not then thank God for region-free next gen consoles. Even if it only makes it to Europe I'll import that junk. Just so long as they leave in an option for Japanese voices. That's really what put the nail in the coffin for me with Gundam Musou 2. Along with Amuro deciding to hurl himself at the Psycho Gundam until he died for no reason 30 flippin' times in the Hong Kong mission for Zeta Gundam mode...  X( But yeah, that's another story. Who cares, if push comes to shove I'll gladly import the Japanese version.

A Hero is just a Man who knows he's free.

The thing that makes it even sweeter for Koei is that, unlike with the Gundam Musou games, they don't have to deal with Bamco, who were arguably the biggest opponents to releasing the games in the West. The main reason W0 and Epyon ended up in the first game was to sweeten the deal for Bamco to release it in the West.

With HnK, it seems that all Koei has to deal with are the main proponents of the Hokuto-franchise, that being Hara+Buronson (original artist and writer), Torie and Coamix (CEO and company). That's gotta be a much better deal, overall.

And given how sales have been for this game in Japan, with Hokuto Musou being the best opener for the Musou brand in 5 years, and even outselling the LTD sales of the last few titles in the series? Getting Kenshiro on their side might have been the best idea Koei has had since making games based on the ROT3K setting. 8D

And with Torie claiming up and down that he wants to have more stories told on the series, but Hara is getting ready to retire after Souten no Ken (the sequel/prequel to HnK)? Something tells me that this original game was to just get people warmed up to the idea of Koei being a part of the mix for now on. I'd be all for a game that tells the story of Shuuken, the first Hokuto Shinken user and founder, who was holding it down back in the ROT3K era itself...  owob

They need to sweeten the deal with more Tallgeese II action!   8D

Sweet. Now I dont have to buy a PS3 and import it.

I hope there aren't any licensing loopholes so that they need to remove content, like YOU WA SHOCK.

http://www.justpushstart.com/2010/06/10/tecmo-koei-reveals-e3-line-up-fist-of-the-north-star-confirmed/

Now this side of the planet can also enjoy Ken's badassery.

Good for Koei in FINALLY having the foresight to not just attach "Warriors" to the title needlessly. That might at least do something to shake off the nasty stigma "Warriors" games have in the States. 8D

Still, it doesn't much matter. With 500,000 units already sold in Japan alone, Koei's CEO will likely get that platinum status just by selling this game in Italy and France alone. 8D

So it IS coming out here after all? :D
I suppressed the urge to jump out of my seat and yell out YES!

Although- Am i the only one who feels that the title FoTNS: "Kens Rage" seems a rather tad bit... corny?

I'd rather it be kept as Hokuto Musou to be honest but that's just me i suppose.

I've been avoiding all videos and everything of this game since i first heard about it (which was also the time i heard it was coming out in Europe) but this thread is making it very difficult to continue avoiding everything.

Gonna bring this thread back since I just got this today.

played it up to Jagi's chapter and kicked his ass.

It's DEFINITELY as fun as it looked, and the English voices are surprisingly good. Only nitpick is that it follows the story roughly. It focuses more on the gameplay than the story. Certain parts are completely glossed over. So Rei and Mamiya go on ahead while Ken stays behind. Okay. But when the head of the Fang clan shows up with Airi, Mamiya has dropped off the face of the earth. NOWHERE to be seen. She's only mentioned when Ken goes off to find Jagi. Yknow, the "he leaves them behind" bit.

The game STARTS at the last chapter, where Ken goes to fight Raoh. And then fades to white to "tell how he got there" When the big guy shows up. But given the way the game handles story, it comes off as rather awkward.

Also, the chapter boss "fatalities" are nowhere near as awesome as they should be in some cases. Ken disposed of Jagi with the right move- but no little cutscene or anything, Jagi just explodes while reminding Ken of Raoh and Toki.

Aside from all that though, REALLY fun. Especially once you get a few new moves and skills and stuff and really get the hang of your own particular style of play.

Fun game. Story mode could have been handled a bit smoother though.

Im surprised there hasn't been a peep out of you on this game, RPM. Anyone else even get it?

I got it when it came out, but I have yet to really sit down and play it.

What killed the whole thing for me, was the lack of co-op without completing the whole story mode beforehand. If Gundam Musou can, why can't Hokuto? I don't care if it's a non story character or whatever. I always played the Gundam ones co-op with a friend, and I was GOING to do the same with this game, but when we discovered that it wouldn't let us until I cleared the game solo, it got shelved. Maybe I'll try it in the future some time.
