It's no secret that many people hate the English voice overs of ZXA except for the Sage Trinity. but which one of the english voice overs do you favour the most BESIDES the Masters?  :D


let me know if I missed any.

I probably have no right to speak with my insistence on "Rock On", but what is the deal with region-mixing in the poll?  Helios (Aeolus) and Condorok (Vulturon)?  You also misspelled Ugoyle.



Chronoforce was awesome.  Aeolus was an extremely close second.  Hedgeshock was adorable.  Grey and Ashe both had their highs and their lows (he high point for Ashe being, "MASTER ALBEEEEERT!!!").  Prometheus took some getting used to, but he's cool.

Vent was awesome in cutscene but sucked in actual dialogue.  Not sure what happened there.

Models X, Z, and A got the thankless job of replacing the X-series Ocean Group actors, all of which the ZXA cast can hold no candle to.  Model A in particular is a testament to being careful what you wish for; we finally have a half-decent tone match to the Japanese VA, and guess what, it's nothing special.

Aile was just horrible.  She combines dialogue-Vent's complete lack of emotion with a snake-like accent.

Would be nice if it was multi choice.

for me, Aeolus, Siarnaq (Micrsoft Sam voice was awesome IMO), Prometheus, Pandora, Model A, and the Sage Triity. Vultron wasnt that bad either.

the rest... meh. though Model X's voice... seriously? they couldnt have Greys actor do him as well? seriously? after having voiced him in X7? I didnt mind Z as much, because I actually didnt mind his X7 voice. it was a dep sort of tone that kinda matched his original deep Japanese voice. but he wasnt that well done here IMO.

and just looking at it reminds me how horrible the renaming is.

Well I kinda liked Pandora, Prometheus, Aeolus and Siarnaq.  I kinda wonder if we should include the various hunters but I guess it doesn't matter.

Sounds like Voltron.

And while Helios sounds cooler, Aeolus goes better with the fact he is of the sky and air.

All the people who were supposed to be female sounded kinda like guys... Sirnaq was my fav voice.

Man that would be hilariously bad, but then again you never know you just can't expect anything anymore. XD  Man I had no idea why I just cracked up like that.

Capcom's translation team sadly has the habit of sometimes changing anything at all that says "Rock" into Mega.

Sometimes I think to do the opposite to RockMan titles that already have "Mega" in them: RockMan RockWorld, RockMan RockMix, Rock Diet...

Well, I'm one of those that don't see the ZXA dub as bad and/or not good. To me, the voice overs are quite above average.

My favourite is Prometheus, Siarnaq, Chronoforce, and Hedgeshock.

My Top 6

1st Chronoforce
2nd Prometheus
3rd Siarnaq
4th Queenbee
5th Grey
6th Vulturon ( forgotten to chose  X( )

Chronoforce was, as you see my favorite in the whole game.
What could be better was of cource the Ocean Group, but Capcom of America likes to drop good voiceactors, so we got bullshit like Aile and Vent. I demand better voiceactors for the next game, otherwise I will Genburei them with instantkill. O:<

Never bothered WITH the acting!  8D

... Though the "grunts" were okay a little, especially Bifrost.

The only ones I really liked were Chronoforce, Prometheus and Aeolus.

ZX didn't have English acting. ZXA did have it. Europe ZXA had the voice cut though...
Hypershell did a small hack so that English ZX could have the Japanese voices at least. (http://www.rockmanpm.com/?p=downloads) ^^

not the best? well, coupled with very bad audio quality, makes that an understatement.

To be fair, it's not like they could really have done anything about the quality. Though I do kinda wonder how much space the cutscenes take up. Not like anyone watches them more than once anyway.

I resent that.  ZXA has some pretty kickass videos.  ZX's first-time Rock Ons weren't half bad, either.

......granted, they did get a little overzealous with Aile's video in ZXA.  It's over twice as large as any other clip

Total streamed content (voices, movies, sfx) for both games is a little under 30 MB each.  Both games used a 64 MB cartridge.

I'm of course checking the Japanese versions for these numbers.  I haven't checked the U.S. Advent, but I know that for ZX, videos with subtitles were slightly larger than their Japanese versions.

Making sense isn't really that important to me when it comes to video games. Not that it's really a matter of making sense, anyway, it's more being thematically appropriate. Given a choice between a name being thematically appropriate or sounding good, I'm gonna take the one that sounds good.

And that is the EXACT same reason my Robotics team never won any competitions/awards.

You should try getting them to take over the world instead.

Robots are good for that.

I dunno,  :\  When I hear "Aeolus" I think Aztec Falcon from MMZ. When I hear "Helios" it sounds alot more like Harpuia.

It means "No." By the very mention of wiki you should have realized thematic naming applies to the character; thematic naming dictates a set name for the mythological ruler of the wind. You don't change that. You can only change the theme you base the name on, not the name itself. As such, he's Helios in Rockman, Aeolus in MegaMan. The theme changed because they felt it more appropiate for the Wind MegaMan to be named after the god of winds instead of the god of the sun.

Beyond that, you seem to be fairly against the use of AE with any other vowel... AE is a common combination of vowels in latin that make a specific sound (Caesar, Aeolus). That specific sound is often abbreviated into a vowel of its own: Æ æ (Cæsar, Æolus).  As you complain about the combination of ÆO, despite it being no more complicated than AO or EO, you only show your lack of familairity with the latin language and even that of English (Archaeology, Archæology).

Not liking a specific combination of sounds = not familiar with English.

It's just a name, there's nothing to like or dislike about it. It is just happens to have existed for milennia and been related to a certain theme. If you want to complain here, take it up with the romans and the entire concept of thematic naming.

But... I never said I didn't like it for thematic reasons. I just don't like the way it sounds. Is that allowed or not? Because if disliking names for children is allowed I don't see why disliking names for video game characters isn't.


In fact y'know what don't bother answering that. I don't think anyone's getting anything out of this conversation. I'm certainly not. It was kinda funny earlier but now it's just terrible.
