This is my experienced so far.
Sometimes the links are broken and can't even delete that broken pic from my gallery. Which is really pain in the arse.
Sure, not all of em broken at the same time. Reupload the pic and fix the link is the easiest solution out there.
But this happened on me a lot lately. Which annoyed me so far.
Also, the latest incident (hacked) made me want to move to another host that might be more secure and stable.
And Photobucket is the first site that many ppl suggest.
I've been Photobucket user since... eh yeah. I forgot when XD
But I moved to Imageshack cos the interface is so simple and easier to navigate.
No worry, just my rant tho.

But the key factor is using eyedropper tool to do shading. (Hold Alt key to pick the color)
The technique is called 厚塗り in Japanese. (Sorry, I don't know what it's called in English)
So, you might want to search that for better explanation.

I always color the eyes part as the last.
But you know, I can't even continue doing this one. So it ends right there.
I need to sharpen my coloring skill.
For me a drawing doesn't look good until I get the hair colored in, then it starts looking somewhat sorta not too bad x3
I think you should continue though, or at least set it aside to try later

It lacks somekind of "bling bling *o*" effect you'll get from my other anime shading works. (Pics that are in the "Junk" line don't count)
As I tried to make it to look more like a real painting. Except the gradient effect finishing touch that kinda ruin it. Hahaha.

Actually it just a glorified anime shading.
Pretty same procedure, but added some more steps.
I also cooked it up a lil bit by added the glamour effect.
(The secret is dupe the same pic and guassian blur it. Then slide down the opacity bar)
